The Titans have been looking for difference-makers through three games and the 3rd-down back Tyjae Spears could be the difference-maker they need. He has a favorable matchup vs. a Dolphins defense that has allowed 8 of 11 targets to RBs to be completed. He should find himself in a prominent 3rd-down role again this week. His overall touches aren't quite there yet but that's what keeps this price manageable and there's talk he needs 10-12 to mix things up. If that holds true, flirting with 50+ yards from scrimmage should be a reasonable threshold to achieve.
Backup QB Tyler Huntley will make his first start for the Miami Dolphins. He is going up against a solid Titans defense thats creates pressure and sticks tight coverage. Most bettors are likely to target Tyreek Hill or Jaylen Waddle props, but I think this receiving yards total on Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith is far too low. Smith went for 6 catches for 53 yards in Week 2 before starting QB Tua Tagovailoa went down. He can be an easy check down target for Huntley when the Titans bring pressure. Huntley has a low aDOT for his career, and I expect him to "game manage" and look for safe routes for short yardage underneath. That sounds like Jonnu Smith.
I know... backing Will Levis after he burned us with yet another bozo play will be a tough pill to swallow. However, I don't think the Dolphins should be favored in this game. The best unit on the field should be the Titans defense. Their high-level play has largely gone unnoticed due to the epic QB blunders, but very quietly the Titans rank Top 10 rush and pass success rate on defense. On the other hand, Miami's defense has been dreadful, ranking 30th in overall pass defense. QB Tyler Huntley is certainly an upgrade over Skylar Thompson, but I don't know if he'll be able to solve the Titans defense in his first start playing in a new offense. I'll take Tennessee with the points.
The only time Achane went over this number Miami ran 75 Offensive Pllays in a strange game that sidelined Tua. And despite the fact R Moestart is out…I still love this under
As I previously mentioned here, I expect this game to be a snoozer. Tyreek Hill will be on the field, so points could come in a hurry, but I just can't see these teams lighting up the scoreboard on MNF.
Tyler Huntley vs. Will Levis in Prime Time...what more could NFL fans ask for? All jokes aside, I think this game will be ugly to start. I'm projecting 6 points at most in the first quarter.
Those who believe Tyler Huntley represents a major upgrade to Miami's disastrous, Tua-less QB room could be in for an unpleasant surprise Monday. Tyler Huntley was only available because the Ravens decided they would rather go with Josh Johnson, who is nearly 40 years old and has literally played for half of the NFL franchises, as the backup to Lamar Jackson. Huntley is just 3-6 as an NFL starter and was dreadful in spot duty for Baltimore the past 2 seasons. The Titans are 0-3 but are a couple of late self-destructions away from 2-1. They have their own QB issues with Will Levis at the helm but should still field the more complete team in this matchup.
I do worry about Achane breaking off one big run, but overall I don’t see him getting enough volume in the rush game to go over this number. I think Huntley will take away a few rushing opportunities as well.
Is Tyler Huntley the answer at QB for the Dolphins? Other than as a short-term stop-gap, maybe not, but for the moment that's all he needs to be as Mike McDaniel is desperate for an upgrade from Skylar Thompson and Tim Boyle, who looked overwhelmed last week at Seattle in place of the injured Tua. Miami has scored only 33 points in three games, and there are injuries (Tua, Mostert, etc), but there are still pieces in place such as Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle from last season's attack. We're not in love with trusting Will Levis-led Tennessee to score a lot of points, but worth noting that every Titans game to date has featured scorelines of 41 or higher. Play Titans-Dolphins "Over"
The Titans allow just 139.3 passing yards per game. I expect Miami to use Tyler Huntley's running ability after watching Packers QB Malik Willis rush for 73 yards and a touchdown on six carries last week. Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons (elbow) is doubtful; his absence would open up more lanes for Huntley.
Tyler Huntley makes the start for Miami tonight. Skylar Thompson is questionable tonight, so the Dolphins are limited at quarterback. Miami’s dynamic passing game may not be effective tonight going up against this Titans defense only allowing 5.1 yards per pass on the season. Tennessee has their own problems on offense, failing to score above 17 points thus far. The Dolphins are only averaging 15 points per game at home and in Huntley last five starts, the game has not exceeded 30 points.
Betting Will Levis to throw a pick is like betting Derrick Henry to score a touchdown. And I'll take that play at -128. The over is 4-1 in his road games when he plays a full game, including a pick last season at Miami. Even though Miami was blown out by Seattle, they still intercepted Geno Smith twice last week. The Sportsline Model gives Levis a 70% chance of throwing a pick, and this is priced closer to 56%.
This guy has no problem between the 20s. It's the red zone where Tyler Huntley gets in trouble. But he plays well in conditions he is familiar with, and nowhere better than your hometown. This over in Baltimore was 6-4 when he had at least 20 pass attempts, and those were with receivers not near the caliber of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. The Sportsline model has him projected for 200 yards.
Tyler Huntley will be taking over for an injured Skylar Thompson, who was replacing starter Tua Tagovailoa. On the surface, this may appear to be a steep downgrade, but not only would I argue Huntley is a serviceable backup that has proven capable under center, I would also suggest he is equally as capable as Skylar Thompson. He also has elite weapons at his disposal, in addition to being in a very good system. I also view this as a plus matchup.
In nine career NFL starts, Huntley has exceeded 32 yards in five of them and had 31 yards in another. In those starts, he's averaging nearly nine rushes per game, and without starting LT Terron Armstead, I have a feeling he's going to be trying to avoid the Tennessee pass rush early and often. I'm thinking Miami's QB tops 40 yards on the ground tonight.
Low totals will scare off Under bettors and invite the Over bettors. However, they have been very profitable to bet on recently. Over the past five seasons, totals at 37 or lower have gone 36-13-1 to the Under, hitting at an absurd 74% clip. The lower the total, the more interested I usually am. Although the Titans have struggled with QB Will Levis, their defense has played very well. Tennessee ranks Top 10 in rush and pass success rate on defense. Dolphins backup QB Tyler Huntley will make his first start of the season. Huntley should be a clear upgrade over Sklyar Thompson, but I still don't see either of these teams running up the score in this one.
The Miami Dolphins are a mess and that was even the case when their quarterback was healthy. Last week they put up three points in a terrible display at Seattle. Week one they beat the Jaguars who might be even worse off than the Dolphins. They haven't covered six straight. Their prospects are bleak. The Titans haven't won a game and haven't covered a game either but somehow they put on an early show before their quarterback gives it up at the end. Will Levis has five interceptions in three games but they were all pivotal. If he changes that the Titans will be fine. That sounds like a better prospect than the Dolphins winning. Titans win.
We still don't know who is going to play QB for the Dolphins in this one, with Skylar Thompson, Tim Boyle and Tyler Huntley all options. Whoever is at QB might not have Terron Armstead protecting him with the talented left tackle in concussion protocol, limiting Miami's offensive upside even further against a quality defense that's allowed 4.7 yards per play and ranks fifth in net yards per pass attempt. For the Titans to win, Will Levis just needs to avoid awful mistakes, and another week of getting healthier for DeAndre Hopkins should help. Only a half-unit until we know the Miami QB, but worth grabbing a +1.5 when possible.
The Dolphins might be playing option football with the extremely limited Tyler Huntley at QB for this one. He just got there. The Titans offense stinks and they haven't cracked 17 points this season. Both teams want to run the ball. The Titans defense has legit bite and I expect them to bounce back here after letting their QBs blunders get to them Sunday. This smells like a field-goal fest to me. Two of three Fins games are 37 or lower.
