This should probably be a field goal spread, but the Ravens are the right team to be favored on Sunday afternoon. The Steelers are not going to go undefeated this season, and the Ravens are motivated after barely squeaking out a win over the Eagles entering their bye. Baltimore has the defensive pieces to contain Pittsburgh's playmakers, and Lamar Jackson will be well-prepared for this game by a stellar coaching staff. I have the Ravens as five-point favorites in my projections, so while the value is minimal, it's the side I believe in.
This is huge game in the AFC North, where the Ravens have a clear edge coming off their bye week, and adding Yannick Ngakoue on defense. I make the Ravens -5.7 points better in my simulations, so I'm comfortable laying the -4 in this spot.
The Steelers are 6-0 but have had a major schedule advantage. After four straight home games, they held off a clearly sluggish Titans team last week. A year ago, the Ravens also faced an undefeated team off their bye week in the Patriots, and won 37-20. Expect great execution from the Ravens as they defeat the last unbeaten team in the NFL. Grab Baltimore.
These teams are fairly even, but the spot really favors Baltimore. The Ravens are coming off a bye while the Steelers are coming off consecutive showdowns versus the Titans and Browns. Look for Baltimore to jump ahead early, then pressure Ben Roethlisberger into mistakes.
This is a tough spot for the Steelers with the Ravens coming off a bye, but I don't see how you make either of these teams a favorite of more than three when they face each other with the way they're playing right now. The Steelers have an excellent defense that ranks second in the league in yards per rush, which will help slow down Baltimore's run game. The Ravens haven't been that successful in the passing game this year, so if Pittsburgh comes through defending the ground game, there's no reason this game should be out of hand in the second half. Take the Steelers and the points, since we're getting good value.
This is the AFC Game of the Week. Pittsburgh is a well-coached team with Mike Tomlin at the helm. He'll have a great game plan dialed up, but unfortunately he can't play and will be leaning on his defense to make sure the Steelers stay assignment-sound and gap-disciplined against Lamar Jackson. The Ravens seemingly have gotten better during the bye week by adding DE Yannick Ngakoue from the Vikings. They're looking at this matchup as a potential playoff preview, and one that can give them sole possession of first place in the AFC North.
I like Pittsburgh an an underdog. Lamar Jackson is not going to have a great game against this defense. He struggles against elite teams, and certainly Pittsburgh is an elite team. Take the points.
