This guy will be on the floor tonight. I expect a ton of defensive attention to be directed towards Jalen Brunson, leaving opportunity for guys like Miles McBride. McBride has proven his minutes on the court as Donte Divincenzo has not been impressive, and he's soared over this his past two games.
I mean this is what Batum does. He's eclipsed this in the past four games, and we have an injured Mitchell Robinson. Joel Embiid can turn it off on the boards on any given night, and I expect Batum to continue playing heavy minutes as the Sixers have shortened their bench the past few games.
Give me the Knicks….the Sixers were valiant in Game 5 but they also look out of gas. Tempted to go ML but now that it’s over a possession I’ll take the 3.5
Maxey has been taxed in this series. He has also been lucky and clutch. Four point plays and overtime minutes aside, this is a very high number
Hart has lost confidence after a hot start to the series. He has especially lost confidence from the Ft line where he compared himself to Shaq at the charity stripe. That’s not good. He’s still rebounding and playing D but his big points on the road is a good fade
The New York Knicks should be resting after letting game five slip away multiple times. As great as Tyrese Maxey was, the Knicks have to feel comfortable with how well they’ve kept the 76ers in check the majority of the series. Expect Jalen Brunson to defer the ball a bit more, and give his teammates the open shots that are there. Take the Knicks plus the points in game six.
The New York Knicks had three players (Brunson, Hart, and Anunoby) log over 50 minutes in game five. Closeout games are extremely difficult on the road, and the 76ers will have the added benefit of feeding off energy from the home crowd. Joel Embiid had just 19 points on 7-for-19 shooting, and Philadelphia was -5.5 in that crucial game three, which they won by 9 points. I think there will be a game seven at MSG on Saturday.
Bojan Bogdanovic (foot) went down early in Game 4 and has since been ruled out for the playoffs. Miles McBride logged 27 minutes in Game 4, scoring 13 points along the way. The Knicks only used seven players in Game 5, which helped McBride score 14 points over 33 minutes off the bench. McBride logged at least 30 minutes in a game 18 times during the regular season. He scored at least 10 points in 16 of those games. I’ll take the over here.
This has been one of the most evenly matched series I can remember with both teams blowing a game late it absolutely should have won. There were plenty of Knicks fans in Philly in Game 4 and the team has taken steps to prevent that from happening again tonight. It should be a true home-court advantage. The Sixers have two guys who can win a game in Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey and the Knicks just the one in Jalen Brunson. So if he's off at all, New York isn't winning. Embiid wasn't great in Game 5 but Philly won thanks to Maxey. And might the NBA want a Game 7 in New York City in primetime Saturday night? Wink, wink.
This series reached new levels of wildness in Game Five when the Sixers, staring down the barrel of elimination, made up a six-point deficit in the last 30 seconds to force overtime, with Tyrese Maxey hitting for 7 of his game-high 46 points (including an and-1 on a triple) to throw Philly a lifeline. Now back home (though many NY fans will be there), Maxey, Joel Embiid & Co have new life. What we have liked about Philly in this series is something we haven't always seen, as the likes of Tobias Harris, Kelly Oubre Jr, and even Kyle Lowry are capable of more scoring. Meanwhile, the Knicks seem to be leaning harder on Jalen Brunson as this series progresses. Play Sixers
Tyrese Maxey is coming off of his best playoff game of his career having scored 46 points on 17-30 shooting after playing a whopping 52 minutes. This is a big number for Maxey in a game with a 199.5 point total. This game projects to be paced down and a low scoring environment with minimal possessions. I also expect Joel Embiid to score a lot more than 19 points.
Game 4 of this series was obviously a total embarrassment for the City Of Brotherly Love, with the Knicks fans taking over this arena for Game 4 and running the Sixers fans out and yelling profanities at Joel Embiid. Philly is a tough town, and with the season on life support again, they'll buck up at home this time. This always seemed destined for 7 games to me, everyone at the NBA league office would surely enjoy that, and there is very little separating these two squads, clearly. Things have definitely gotten personal in this series and the best player on the court - Embiid - can exact some sweet revenge here. I project Maxey to out-score Brunson back at home.
