Powell will start. Yes. But that’s not enough to go over here. Knicks play slow, play good D on the inside, and Powell should still be sub 25 min, I project him at 7-8. Value if he needs to get to 10 to beat us.
Knicks are rollin rollin rollin. Let’s keep riding them until further notice. They seem to be the team that will end up overachieving in the regular season and they don’t seem to have many flat spots
Getting 4.5 at home? This bet screams Dallas. Don't be the reason casinos are built. New York continues to roll with OG Anunoby and the Knicks' bench kills the Mavs, whose depth is hurt without Dante Exum.
The volume should be there tonight for OG Anunoby. Our Sportsline Model has him projected for 2.4 so we're getting pretty good value here. The Knicks have won 5 straight games with OG in the lineup, and he is coming off a 23-point performance shooting 4-6 3P. I see no reason why they will stop feeding him tonight.
Again, these are the Knicks' boards tonight. No Luka Doncic and no Dereck Lively for Dallas. The Sportsline Model has Julius Randle projected for 10 rebounds alone tonight. He's averaging 4 assists since OG Anunoby has joined the team. I like his rebounds play alone, but I like the better value we're getting here with the assists, as this should be a high scoring night for the Knicks.
Hate to say it, but Jalen Brunson it due. He's had four straight games with three rebounds. These were also games where they were blowing out teams by at least 15 points. Before these "blowout" games, the over for this was 9-2. No Luka Doncic tonight or Dereck Lively, so these should be the Knicks' boards tonight. The Mavericks don't have anyone to replace the rebounding efficiency of these two. Look for Brunson to have a revenge game all over against Kyrie Irving tonight.
Today is a bad matchup for the home Dallas Mavericks. They looked flat on both ends of the floor in their seventeen point loss to a short handed Memphis Grizzlies. Now they will face a surging Knicks team on a five game win streak. Look for the Knicks to out hustle the Mavericks, and also for Jalen Brunson to have a showcase against his old team.
When a team is on a roll like the Knicks, with specific rationale to attach to the uptick, the prudent move is to continue with the trend until further notice. The clear turning point in the last two weeks for New York has been the addition from Toronto of OJ Anunoby, whose scoring and rebounding have been good enough but whose real bonus has been a defensive presence for Tom Thibodeau and more flexibility with his various schemes. The proof is in the performance, with five straight wins and covers since the Anunoby trade. meanwhile, Dallas did recently top the T-wolves, but also lost to the Ja Morant-less Grizzlies in the Mavs' last game, and no Luke Doncic tonight. Play Knicks
This is a pretty aggressive "total" tonight in Big D, especially considering that Luka Doncic (ankle) is slated to miss the game for the Mavs. Scoring 35 ppg his last three outings, Doncic leaves a pretty big hole in whatever rotations Jason Kidd puts on the floor. Meanwhile the Knicks have won and covered all five games since the trade for OJ Anunoby, with his presence allowing Tom Thibodeau some real flexibility with his many defensive schemes. Play Knicks-Mavs "Under"
The Dallas Mavericks are not only going to be without MVP candidate Luka Doncic but will also be without numerous rotation players in Dante Exum, Maxi Kleber, Dereck Lively, and potentially Grant Williams. The Knicks meanwhile are healthy and have looked very good since acquiring OG Anunoby from the Raptors. I like the Knicks to take care of business on the road against a shorthanded Mavs team.
The Knicks are 5-0 since OG Anunoby joined the team. That included wins over the Timberwolves and 76ers. Not only have they won five straight, but four of those wins came by at least 16 points. They are healthy for this matchup, while the Mavericks will be without Luka Doncic (ankle) and Dante Exum (heel). Covering the spread on the road can sometimes be tricky, so I’ll pay the juice and just take the Knicks to win.
This is a big number for Dwight Powell who is set to start the game for the Mavs at Center. Powell averages 5.2 combined rebounds + assists, however that number jumps up to 7.5 RA as a starter this season over a six game sample. Powell will face a Knicks team that plays at the 4th slowest pace in the league. Look for Powell to play 20-22 minutes tonight and a lot has to go right for him to cover this number.
No Luka Doncic or Dante Exum and probably no Dereck Lively and perhaps no Grant Williams for Dallas. Yet only -160ish (DraftKings) on red-hot New York? OG Anunoby has energized the Knicks. I don't play road teams ML very often in the NBA but it's sure tough to see Kyrie Irving essentially single-handedly win this game for Dallas. Irving doesn't like to be the alpha anyways.
