It's rare for Wisconsin to be this big of an underdog at Camp Randall. The Badgers have looked sluggish and mediocre through two games, while the Tide has been dominant, winning its two games by a combined score of 105-16. Karen DeBoer gets starting left tackle Kadyn Proctor back, but for me this one is about Jalen Milroe. The junior quarterback has been outstanding, account for 9 touchdowns and ZERO turnovers in two games. Look for Milroe's Heisman campaign to kick up a notch after a big Tide win here.
Wisconsin is not the team from years past and Alabama isn't feared as much without Nick Saban for some reason. Jalen Milroe the quarterback has been spectacular so far with five touchdowns, no interceptions, and completions nearly 70% on the season. Alabama's nine starters are back, and three are on the offensive line. But no coach Saban and a tough road environment. Wisconsin's got 15 starters back from last season and they have the new quarterback Tyler Van Dyke who hasn't covered a game this year but is 2-0. Luke Fickell's bunch will have the home crowd in their favor and they'll stay within single digits of Alabama. Wisconsin to cover.
Alabama hasn't been incredible to start the year and has flaws, but it's so hard to have faith in the Badgers after what I've seen through two games. The run game is mediocre, and they don't have receivers who can get open.
I see this game similarly to how Texas vs. Michigan played out last week. A one-sided road domination by an SEC team. Wisconsin's offense isn't very good and Tyler Van Dyke isn't the answer. I'd be surprised if they scored more than two touchdowns. The Badgers' defense will keep them in it for a while. Alabama 30, Wisconsin 16.
In a rare game out of the south for Alabama, I like the matchup in this game for them. QB Jalen Milroe is going to be the best player on the field in this game. Within the trenches, Bama can dominate up front while also being able to apply pressure. Both will help lead them to a big win in Madison.
It might be tempting to back the big home dog after Alabama struggled last week against South Florida but I'm laying the points. Alabama has been dealing with offensive line injuries but starting LT Kadyn Proctor should return this week. It is also important to note that over 80% of the Tide's offensive production vs. South Florida came after Elijah Pritchett replaced Wilkin Formby (4 holding penalties) at right tackle. With the offensive line trending up, look for Alabama's running game to dominate. I'm also not sold on Tyler Van Dyke at QB in Wisconsin's Air Raid offense. Tide roll.
