Understanding Public and Money

Think of 'Public' as the percentage of people betting on each side and 'Money' as how much money is being bet. When there's a big difference between the 'Public' and 'Money' data, it usually means that the more serious bettors (referred to as 'Sharp Money') are favoring a particular side.

Adam's Analysis:

The 49ers have lost three straight with an 0-4 ATS streak; the Bears have lost six straight with a 2-0-1 ATS streak. Chicago also has an interim coach in Thomas Brown, who has stepped up his responsibilities considerably this season. Across the field is Kyle Shanahan, one of the best in the NFL who is dealing with a M.A.S.H. unit. Despite that, San Francisco still has plenty of playmakers with Isaac Guerendo a hidden gem in the backfield. Missing Nick Bosa on defense hurts, but this is also as low of a spot as you can get San Francisco basically any time the last four seasons. No doubt this is a risky proposition, but a flier with the 49ers in this spot is worth it.

Keenan Allen has been a monster lately. He’s running well over 90% of the routes and is becoming the guy in this new Bears O. Grab it now.

Bruce's Analysis:

Lots of misery both ways here, but maybe harder to justify laying points with the Niners, whose injury epidemic reminds of 2020 when much of the roster was wiped out before SF regrouped the following season. Christian McCaffrey's trip to the IR might be the final blow, with DE Nick Bosa and OT Trent Williams among others who are out Sunday. Of course, the Bears have lost six straight, sometimes gallingly so, and hit the eject button on Matt Eberflus after the debacle at the end of the Thanksgiving loss at Detroit. But teams have often rallied for interims like Thomas Brown, Chicago can't lose close every game, and Caleb Williams hasn't tossed a pick since the bye week in October. Play Bears

Todd's Analysis:

Christian McCaffery's season lasted 50 carries before he landed on IR after last Sunday's game against Buffalo. Jordan Mason also joined CMC on IR meaning the backfield for the 49ers is thin. Isaac Guerendo is now the clear RB1 but there's not much proven depth behind him. That means Kyle Shanahan may look to get creative against the Bears' front; enter Deebo. Yes, that same guy with 1 carry the last 3 games. I'm going to bank injuries lead to opportunity and we're buying Deebo's rushing production at the absolute bottom of the market this week

Jason's Analysis:

I'm on the ML. The Bears can win this game without playing their A Game. 49ers injury report is out and Trent Williams is still out as is Dre Greenlaw and Bosa is doubtful. Bears OL shouldn't get exposed here because they can run the ball, hit a few play action shots, and win this game. 49ers pass rush in shambles

Todd's Analysis:

Despite traveling to the West Coast for a road game, the Bears enter Sunday with a substantial rest advantage over their opponent. Chicago played the early game Thanksgiving while the 49ers have now crossed multiple time zones each of the last two weeks with road games at GB and Buffalo. The 49ers are also an absolute mash unit dealing with a rash of injuries to key contributors. It's also hard to ignore that the Bears have now gone to the mat with three of the 8 best teams in the league recently showing a willingness to compete in a lost season. Add in the interim coach bump and it becomes addition by subtraction without Matt Eberflus calling the shots for Chicago

Jason's Analysis:

Purdy has been brutal at home this season, the walls keep closing in, the 49ers keep losing key offensive cogs and this kid is coming off a week in which he didnt try to do much in the snow. Expect him to try to do too much in this spot, which has been the case often. He has a 77.7 rating at home with 7 picks in 6 games. Bears will focus on George Kittle in the RZ (who is banged up himself) and not enough 49ers can win on the outside. OL is also an issue.

Jason's Analysis:

The Bears just faced three of the best teams in NFC - DET, GB, MIN - and if they didn't have a total fool for a head coach could have won all 3. They finally fired that fool, whom the players did not respect. Expect a big bump here; Matt Eberflus could not win on the road but I think that changes here. Brock Purdy stinks at home. SF is bad on offense, defense and special teams and the injuries have wrecked them. Bears D will be very tough for them. SF scored just 60 points in 4 games since its bye and has lost 4 of its last 6, only looking good against lowly Dallas in that span. Caleb Williams is on the upswing.

Mike's Analysis:

Every year, one team gets covered almost head-to-toe by bite marks from the injury bug. This season, it's San Francisco. Monday night in Buffalo, the offense was further afflicted as RBs Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason will be off rehabbing -- McCaffrey after having just returned. That leaves rookie Isaac Guerendo as the primary ball-carrier. Though it's early in the week, the defense could welcome reinforcements if DE Nick Bosa and others return. For the Bears, a head coaching change is unlikely to super-charge the pedestrian offense right away. While its stock is rising, Chicago's O still ranks 25th. These factors add up to a score lower than this mid-range number.
