Nabers has not found the end zone since Week 3 against the Browns. Despite dominating the target share, Nabers has only 3 touchdowns this season. Against Carolina’s weak secondary, Nabers seems due for a score. Look for a big game from the Giants star rookie wideout.
Bryce Young and the Panthers are coming off a rare win, and will head to Munich to face the Giants with some newfound confidence. However, I think it will be short lived. This is a terrible matchup for Carolina. Young struggles under duress, and the Giants own the NFL’s best sack rate. NY’s QB pressure can blow up plays and cause havoc. Young has only gone over this mark one time this season, and I don’t see him finding much success through the air against the Giants if he’s constantly forced to escape. A weak Panthers run defense on the other side of the ball will also help keep Carolina’s offense off the field.
There is a chance this matchup has been shipped overseas because no one wants to see it in the states. The Panthers, however, seem to be improving, as Bryce Young starts his third straight game after piloting the upset of the Saints last Sunday. More noteworthy, perhaps, is the fact that Carolina has gone over in six of seven games since Mike Canales made the original switch at QB to Andy Dalton before a Week 3 win over the Raiders. Meanwhile, the beleaguered G-Men have displayed a bit more offense the past two weeks in over results vs. the Steelers and Commanders. This 40.5 on totals side looks a bit low. Play Panthers-Giants Over (at Allianz Arena, Munich)
Giants rookie tight end Theo Johnson has 10 catches for 86 yards over the past couple games, and he has a great matchup in Germany. The Panthers give up the fourth-most receiving yards per game (63.4) to opposing tight ends. With Darius Slayton out, Daniel Jones will have to find someone else to throw to besides Malik Nabers and Wan'dale Robinson.
Bryce Young has made four starts this season and thrown at least one pick in each for a total of six. The Giants don't have many INTs but they do have a good pass-rush and that's when Young starts seeing ghosts, so to speak. And maybe the former Heisman winner has some bad schnitzel tonight ahead of the morning Eastern time game in Germany and isn't clear-headed.
Malik Nabers is having a fantastic rookie season and despite playing in an anemic passing offense, with a below average QB, Nabers leads the NFL in target share, air yard share, and open score. Pretty incredible considering Nabers has appeared in fewer than 10 NFL games and now he faces a horrendous Carolina defense that is 31st in EPA allowed per dropback, 30th in First Read EPA, and 32nd in Explosive Pass %. If the Panthers can push the Giants this is a matchup Nabers could go nuclear. With Nabers having such a significant percentage of the Giants target share, he is capable of a ceiling game in almost any game environment.
Hubbard has a TD in 5 of the last 7 and 6 total TDs in that span. Weird game in Germany at a weird time, and I expect the Panthers to have a very conservative game plan with Bryce Young finally looking better but facing a dominant pass rush here. Run, run, run vs a bas run defense. I like him very much in the screen game against redzone blitzes as well.
