The Browns are a different (read: much better) team when Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt are both healthy. And while that should help Sunday night, it doesn't account for the fact that the Ravens can run almost just as well despite being down their star rushers but also have a much more explosive offense with Lamar Jackson and Hollywood Brown both finally healthy. Jackson is not only recovered from his illness, he's well-rested and playing a night game at home. Cleveland is going to have a tough time stopping Jackson, while Baker Mayfield remains vulnerable as he continues to limp around behind center.
The Baltimore Ravens have been fortunate to get wins late in games. They were able to do so again last week against Chicago, and that was minus Lamar Jackson. Yet, look for Cleveland to take advantage of an odd schedule. It will have a bye week next week before hosting the Ravens again. Look for Cleveland to have the extra motivation before and after the bye week.
The Browns have struggled to score during a stretch that started in Week 6 where they've been held to 17 points or fewer in all but one game. But their defense has also held four of its last five opponents to 16 points or fewer. Part of the reason for Cleveland's recent struggles have been injuries, but its health is trending up with Kareem Hunt and Jack Conklin coming back. Meanwhile, the Ravens have a massive injury report, and on defense they have four CBs and a few other key names listed as questionable. I think the Browns win behind their run game and pressuring Lamar Jackson in this one, and I love catching more than three points with the state of these teams.
I'm going to play this now that Lamar Jackson has been cleared and Marquise Brown was back at practice. It's not impossible that Baker Mayfield misses this one for the Browns as he's completely battered. If so, this spread would jump. Mayfield's two top wideouts also are in question.
Winning without Lamar Jackson says it all about the Ravens. The QB missed Sunday’s victory over Chicago with an illness but presumably will be cleared for Cleveland after he warmed up. RB Nick Chubb declared his recovery from COVID-19 complete with a monstrous effort — 130 yards on 22 carries — but the Browns barely got past winless Detroit. QB Baker Mayfield, dealing with an assortment of injuries, was ineffective, completing about half his attempts. His ailments could linger for another week.
