Colorado was exposed last week. The Buffaloes should have some extra energy returning home and be able to score on a vulnerable USC defense.
USC QB Caleb Williams will take every opportunity to advance his candidacy as a repeat Heisman Trophy winner against a beat-up Buffaloes secondary. Standout safety Shilo (son of Deion) Sanders appears out. The No. 111th ranked passing offense confronts the No. 3 throwing offense without its best player. Williams will draw motivation from opposing QB Sheduer (son of Deion) Sanders, a sudden emergence into the Heisman race. The Buffs' big absence is two-way star Travis Hunter, whose receiving and receiving covering will be missed. Colorado is legit but catches a fired-up Pac-12 foe for the second straight week.
I was this close to picking Oregon to cover against Colorado last week but just couldn't pull the trigger. I'm not going to make the same mistake this week. The Buffaloes' issues on both the offensive and defensive lines remain and won't be corrected until the offseason at the earliest. Meanwhile USC QB Caleb Williams is having another Heisman-caliber season and gets a crack at a Colorado defense that gives up 475.8 yards and 33.2 points per game. I wouldn't be surprised to see Williams go deeper in the game than he has been going. I'll lay the points.
USC could perhaps hang 60 on that porous Colorado defense if it wanted to, but it might be another three-quarter game for Caleb Williams as I doubt this is close. Kickoff is 10 a.m. local time and 9 a.m. LA time -- get used to those early kicks back in the Big 12 Buffs -- so that might throw the offenses out of whack at first.
If you drew 100 paths on a chalkboard how this game ends, 99 of those lead towards the under. Understand going in these two teams are volatile and carry risk when playing totals, that said this kicks off at 9am Pacific so hopefully we can get a bit of a sluggish start. Not to mention, USC has pulled Caleb Williams in 75% of their games this season when they get a big lead so if the Trojans are up big he should be out of the game for the 4th. This under hit nicely for us last week, it's worth the price of admission to see if the books are being too generous once again with the points.
I pegged last week's Buffaloes game spot on and I'm planning on doing it again this week. I just can't see how Deion's team can stop a Trojans team which is averaging 569.3 yards per game (3rd in the nation) thus far. Caleb Williams and company score early, often, almost every time they have the ball. The Buffs will get back on the winning track next time out in Tempe. USC 55-24.
A 10 a.m. local start time is the backdrop for an astronomically high total that will require both offenses to show out. What's more, a peek from last week showed that coaches don’t want to run it up on Coach Prime, and thus become a national story and distraction. Back the Under
