I just don't like the spread at all and even though recent history of totals at 38.5 points or lower point towards an Under, I can't do that, either. So just to have an opinion and care about tonight a little: Browns moneyline it is. Needless to say as a Bears fan, I have major animus toward Mitch Trubisky, and I fully expect Myles Garrett to cause at least one strip-sack fumble against a bad Steelers offensive line (Mitch will surely get the blame, though). Pittsburgh is also 0-5 all-time without TJ Watt. The season debut of Pro Bowl right tackle Jack Conklin for the Browns should only help the dynamic duo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The Steelers haven't been good against the run so far. Oh and hey Nick? Perhaps fall down before the end zone next time! Didn't they teach you that at Georgia? Oh yeah, you probably only took Basket Weaving 101. Wow was that a bad beat vs. the Jets. Thus, the Browns owe me.
This is a battle between one of the worst offenses and worst defenses with the Steelers and the Browns No. 1 ranked running game (200.5 ypg) and fourth-best run defense (73.5 ypg allowed). The Browns have played in two fast-paced games, both overs, but lost a rough one at home to the Jets Sunday, 31-30. The Steelers have fought hard in defensive battles – under both, losing one at home Sunday to the Patriots, but beating the Bengals in Week 1. No T.J Watt, but a big coaching edge for the Steelers. Steelers to cover
Through two weeks, the Pittsburgh Steelers' offense has been protected by their sound defense. In Week 1, they forced turnovers from Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow. In Sunday’s contest, the Patriots' simplicity kept the Steelers comfortable offensively. In Thursday’s game, look for the Browns to heavily feature their ground game and screen offense to get an early lead. That will force the Steelers' hand offensively, which in turn will lead to miscues or short fields for Cleveland. Take the Browns.
Though neither team would be mistaken for an offensive juggernaut, too many impactful defenders are ailing to justify the sub-40 total. Browns edge rushers Jadeveon Clowney and Chase Winovich are out. Myles Garrett is iffy, which should afford Steelers QB Mitch Trubisky much-needed time in the pocket as rookies fill in for the absentees. Pittsburgh soldiers on without the incomparable LB T.J. Watt. Through two weeks, Cleveland QB Jacoby Brissett owns a higher passer rating than guys named Wilson, Murray, Brady and Stafford.
