After starting the season hot, the Cowboys cooled off as they dealt with injuries and a couple tough situational games. But Dallas is finding itself again in large part because its defense has picked up the slack. Entering Sunday night, the Cowboys not only have their full complement of playmakers but have Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard healthier than they've been in weeks. Even if Antonio Gibson plays, he'll be a running back with a toe injury, which is never good. It's not often that a team will sweep a season series against a decent division rival, but look for Dallas to do just that in a great home spot.
One of the more predictable teams this year has been the Washington Football team. After winning four straight, it has lost consecutive games. Expect the Cowboys to build upon the defensive schemes that frustrated Washington QB Taylor Heinicke two weeks ago. In that outing, Heinicke had a season-low 11 completions and threw for just 122 yards. Take Dallas as it sweeps the season series.
At first glance it's tempting to grab double digits with a Washington team getting its starting QB back. But this Cowboys defense is scary now that Micah Parsons, Randy Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence are all on the field together. It happened for the first time in Week 14 when Dallas held the WFT to 3.6 yards per play in a 27-20 win. Then the Cowboys limited the GIants to six points last week. Look for another dominant defensive performance and for Dak Prescott and the Dallas passing game to get untracked. Back the Cowboys to improve to 10-0 ATS versus NFC foes.
Dallas beat Washington two weeks ago, but that came with Washington missing major contributors on the defensive line. Those players are mostly back for a Washington team that will be more desperate for a win than a Cowboys team that already has clinched a playoff spot. Give me Washington to keep this game close.
