Pick a phase of the game, and I can tell you why the Rams have an advantage. Be it offensively with LA's playmakers or up front defensively where Aaron Donald should have a field day on the Browns' offensive line, I like LA position-by-position in this one and think it has the coaching edge, too. Then add in that the Rams play quite well on the road -- and the only thing the Browns have done well this season is beat an injured Jets team -- and this is one of the easiest calls of the day. Let's hope it pays off.
The Rams have been a covering machine on the road, and they're facing an undisciplined Browns team battling a ton of key injuries. Lay the points before this line moves higher.
Aaron Donald vs. the Browns' offensive line is unlikely to end well for Cleveland, and neither is Sean McVay vs. Freddie Kitchens. Assuming Donald is healthy (he was limited in practice Wednesday but there's no reason to think he won't play), he'll expose one of the Browns' biggest problem areas. McVay's Rams have avoided a Super Bowl hangover, and I think they'll be energized for a primetime game against the offseason champs. This line could rise, so it's time to jump. Lay the points.
This wasn't the Cleveland Browns offense we were promised heading into the season, as all the weapons surrounding QB Baker Mayfield haven't exactly coalesced into a productive unit. The cure that ails the Browns doesn't come this weekend, as the Rams defense is outstanding again in 2019. If Cleveland's defense can at least slow Jared Goff and the prolific Los Angeles offense, can the offense finally find the spark this week? I doubt it.
I don't think this line is going down, with Chris Hubbard in a walking boot and the Browns not looking great despite their win on Monday, so I'm going to hop on the Rams at -3. I think there's a big coaching mismatch between Sean McVay and Freddie Kitchens, and I like the Rams' pass-catchers matching up against the Browns secondary a lot more than Odell Beckham Jr. & Co. against Aqib Talib and the Rams. And if this game is close late, I have much more faith in Greg Zuerlein making a key kick.
I like the Rams a lot this week. Cleveland isn't a good team, and Baker Mayfield looks shaky. The Rams have terrific receivers, and their ground game is going to run all over the Browns.
