The Pistons are red hot and in position to make a move on a top-four playoff seed. The Jazz have a two-game "lead" on the Pelicans for one of the league's three worst records, which carries the maximum 14% chance to securing the No. 1 overall pick. In short, Utah needs to lose and Detroit needs to win, and the Jazz have actually won two of their last five. This is a night for both teams to make certain of their respective needs.
After a brief pause on Friday vs. Denver, Detroit was back at it on Saturday with a decisive win over the Nets. The Pistons put the game away in a dominant 4th quarter effort en route to shooting better than 54% on the night while holding Brooklyn to just 30.5% from the floor. After a slow start, Cade Cunningham took over in the 4th quarter as Detroit pulled away for its ninth win in ten, with eight of those wins by double-digit margins. Meanwhile, we've seen the occasional good effort from the Jazz but they're 8-23 SU at home (and 15-45 overall). They continue to deal with injuries with top three scorers Lauri Markkanen, John Collins, and Collin Sexton all iffy for tonight. Play Pistons.
Jazz are just 4-6 on back to backs and are 27th in NBA with -6.1 net rating over last 15 games; Pistons are 3rd at +9.3. Pistons are top 6 in ) and D ratings in that span and are motivated to show they are for real. They have covered 4 straight on road and 8 of 12 away from home and are 11-3 SU and ATS in last 14 games. Ten of those wins are by 8+ and 8 of them are by double digits. They are covering by 7.9 points on average during that stretch. They are 7-1 ATS in last 8 and Jazz beat them in Detroit and Pistons will learn from that film. Pistons are 29-18-1 ATS outside their division.

DraftKings. Malik Beasley has cleared this line in 21/31 games without Jaden Ivey this season. A three point specialist, he’s also cleared this line in 12/17 games against teams in the bottom 10 against above-the-break three pointers, Beasley’s most dominant shot zone by far. The Jazz aren’t just bad in defending those shots, they rank dead last in the NBA. Coming off the bench, minutes are sometimes a concern for Beasley. However, with Tobias Harris slated to miss this game, there is more of a path for Beasley to creep towards 30 minutes.

Isaiah Collier has been a nice surprise for the Jazz and has been piling up plenty of helpers while serving as their primary floor general. While Collier has proven he has a chance to stick in the league, I don't believe his current usage is sustainable and he is likely to see his production and playing time dip anytime Utah is operating close to full strength. Utah has regularly been resting their starters but they are expected to suit up for this game.
