FanDuel at -108. Analysis to come.
The dynamics have been so bad around the SIxers that we hardly think Joel Embiid's absence for the rest of the season is going to make things any worse. On nine straight losses, there are myriads of issues, including Paul George's indifferent attitude. Only Tyrese Maxey looks like a reliable building block for the future. Meanwhile the Warriors are at the opposite end of the spectrum, winning and covering 7 of 8 since the Jimmy Butler trade, and Steph Curry off of 56 points on Thursday in Orlando. Remember, Steph made all eight of his triples when the Dubs blew out the Sixers (who had Embiid, George, and Maxey together for one of the few times this season) 139-105 back on January 2. Play Warriors
Joel Embiid has been shut down for the season so now the Sixers can get back to business with no fooling around and maybe win for the first time in 10 games. They have lost nine straight games and didn't even cover until they lost by 5 to the Knicks two nights ago. That was their last opponent. Golden State has played mediocre teams lately but they won the last five and covered all five and looked really good with Jimmy Butler. The last time that Steph Curry faced the Sixers he went eight of eight from three-point range in a 34-point win. Warriors cover.
I actually think Joel Embiid -- so freaking glad don't have to speak about that guy again until October -- being shut down for the season helps the Sixers a little bit in the interim. Obviously, they are better with him but just the everyday BS on whether he plays, etc. Really do believe the players were ready to move forward and everyone else should play tonight. And the Dubs might be sans one-time Sixer Jimmy Butler (and Jonathan Kuminga remains out). He has struggled over his last two outings, totaling only 11 points on 4-for-15 shooting while dealing with back spasms. Believe the Sixers have a good shot of covering regardless but if JB is out even more so ...
It's really early to jump this, I know, but it's already moved up a half point from the open. News of Embiid being shutdown and the Sixers utterly poor play for the most part the last few weeks make you think the tank is on. Yeah Philly got up for rivals Celtics and Knicks but are 5-13-2 ATS vs the West. Philly 9-20-1 ATS at home. Warriors offense is nuts now with Himmy Butler. They've covered 7 of the last 8 games. Won't need 50 from Steph to cover here.
