With Paul George and Joel Embiid out, Tyrese Maxey is going to need to have a big night if the Sixers are going to have any chance to beat or even stay close with the Lakers. He is in top form, averaging 28 points per game for the month of January, and he's gone over this number in three of his last four games. I might normally bet on a streak like that to end with such a high number, but given the Lakers' struggles to defend on the perimeter, Maxey should be in for a lot of clean looks even with all the attention on him.
I was looking at both Tyrese Maxey points and assists and now see Mike Barner and PropStarz have a play on each. Think I will go with assists as only one of our books still has 7.5 -- they all have Maxey 29.5 points -- and I'm not sure who Maxey would even pass to tonight with so many teammates out led by Joel Embiid and Paul George.
This is an enormous assist line for Tyrese Maxey who averages approximately 6.0 assists per game. The 76ers will be without their entire starting frontcourt as Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Caleb Martin have all been ruled out ahead of this matchup with LA. Maxey averages 5.8 APG without Embiid in the lineup this season, compared to 6.6 APG with Embiid. Considering how depleted the Sixers are there is some additional blowout risk as well. I'd play this to (-170) and scale to .5u at 6.5 if plus money.
Joel Embiid, Paul George and Caleb Martin have all been ruled out for this game. That should leave plenty of shot attempts for Tyrese Maxey, who has already been on a scoring surge lately. Over his last 10 games, he has scored at least 29 points eight times. The two times that he didn’t, he just missed with 28 points each. The Lakers will be playing the second game of a back-to-back set, so they could have tired legs. They also have the ninth-worst defensive rating in the league. Maxey should shine in the scoring department.
