DMitch will have the ball in his hands all night long. I’m playing BOTH the assists alone and the assists plus points to try and hit it big here.
Donovan Mitchell appears to be over the numerous injuries he was dealing with throughout the second half of the NBA that were not only limiting his effectiveness, but keeping him out of the lineup. While it's no surprise Mitchell is an elite scorer, he's an underrated playmaker and averaged a career best 6.1 APG this season. He's also an extremely high usage player in the playoffs and is going to play upwards of 40+ minutes in competitive games.
The Magic are compromised by the Cavs superior size and physicality and looked spread too think in Game 1. Adjustments will be made but Mitchell is so tough to stop once he gets heated up and he looked truly himself the other night for the first time in months. All the time off, and the extra week between the regular season and playoffs did him incredibly well, and he got his 30 points despite only getting to the line 5 times and only playing 36 minutes. Cavs scoring was an issue without him, and no reason to play the role of facilitator here. Cavs go as he goes and I believe he'll have a 40-point game in this series at some point, probably at home.
Allen is a streaky rebounder and there was a period of weeks when injuries struck the Cavs that he was going over this with regularity. His play waned late and I think he was out of gas, but the Magic don't have impactful bigs and he did whatever he wanted on the boards in Game 1. Mobley will cut into this a bit but CLE won rebounds 54-40 in G1, Allen averaged 11/G at home this season, expect him to be a fixture on the court as a match-up advantage and grabbed 18 in 35 mins in the opener. Cavs might not open up a 20-point lead Mon in which case he might be around 40 mins.
Wanted to watch this Game 1 before doing anything in this series to see Donovan Mitchell after another week of practice and how the young Magic look on the road in postseason. And Cavs size looks like an issue. Killed them on the boards, plenty of easy buckets and won easy despite hardly playing an A Game - 18 turnovers and ORL got to line 9 times more than CLE. Combo of Allen and Mobley just too much for Magic Magic never held the lead and in unfamiliar territory now. Cavs can beat them up a little bit and win ugly at home. Mitchell can take this series over. ORL will be better at home, but I like the Cavs to cover this
Big number obviously but already up to -250 at some books and I'm not waiting around. Nothing I saw today in the Cavs' easy win makes me believe Orlando can win a road game in the series.
