With all of the injuries on the Grizzlies, Jaren Jackson Jr. has become their main scoring option. Over his last 14 games, he is averaging 25.6 points on 21.0 shot attempts per game. Of those 14 games, he scored at least 24 points 10 times. There is always the potential for him to get into foul trouble with his aggressive style of play on defense, but I still think the over is the way to go here.
Any time there is a coaching transition it is going to take time for success. For the Nets they have dropped four consecutive games, and their first two post All Star break. Tonight they have a more optimal matchup facing a Grizzlies team that scored just 95 points in their Friday matchup against the Clippers. Tail the Nets
The Nets are 1-7 over their last eight games. During that span, they scored 108 points or fewer six times. Of those six games, they scored fewer than 100 points five times. The Grizzlies have a lot of length and have turned into a good defensive team. They recently limited the Bucks to 110 points and the Clippers to 101 points. This is a great spot to take the under for the Nets’ team total.
Claxton averages 10.1 rebounds per game and hasn't topped this number since Feb. 3. His rebounding average is also slightly lower on the road. The SL Model has him finishing with 10.3 tonight. Maybe we get lucky and Jaren Jackson Jr. gets Claxton into early foul trouble.
Nic Claxton has had a solid season however this is a chunky combo line for the Nets big man. The Nets will face a Memphis team that has been completely decimated by injuries and Jaren Jackson Jr. was the only member of the team who was a starter coming into the season. Speaking of Jackson Jr. AKA the reigning DPOY he will be tasked with guarding Claxton and Nic will have his hands full. Even despite Memphis struggling they remained stingy against opposing Centers.
The Nets put up a bit of a fight Saturday at Minnesota and then folding as expected for another road ATS loss. They are 2-14 ATS away from home since mid-December and they haven't exactly faced OKC and BOS every night along the way. Memphis has actually won 2 of 3 to snap a 9-game skid and they are enjoying a lengthy homestand while Brooklyn hasn't played a home game in two weeks and still must head to Orlando before they hit homecourt again. For all their warts the Griz are on a 4-0 ATS streak at home; 7-3 ATS in their last 10 at home. I'll likely play this on the ML as well; Nets have lost 7 of their last 8 games.
