The Raptors have just four wins since Jan. 9 but will have RJ Barrett in the lineup after he was questionable. Tyrese Haliburton was the same for Indiana and is expected to play, but Myles Turner, Bennedict Mathurin and Jalen Smith are all out.
Considering how the Toronto offense has stalled, this is a pretty hefty "total" to overcome tonight north of the border. The Raps have been held to 100 points or fewer on three different occasions across their last five games, as the trades of OJ Anunoby and Pascal Siakam (on the other side tonight with the Pacers) have removed the most-reliable components of their offense. No surprise, then, that Toronto has been trending "under" (10-5 last fifteen). Indiana also has slowed the pace from early in the season when routinely crashing into the 250s and above with its scorelines; not so much lately, and "under" 9-5 their last 14. Play Pacers-Raptors "Under"
When looking at the potential recuperative powers for each here, much prefer those on the Indiana side. After all, we're just talking about one subpar effort for the Pacers (Monday's loss at Charlotte); for the host Raptors, it's several games, including a humbling loss to the lowly Spurs at Scotiabank on Monday. Toronto has been skidding for more than a month, roughly coinciding with dealing Pascal Siakam to these same Pacers, whose new addition faces his former team tonight. The Raps are 4-14 SU in their last 18 and 5-11 their last 16 vs. the spread. Indy still dealing with nagging hurts which have made Tyrese Haliburton questionable every game, but the Siakam factor plus Haliburton likely being available should help tonight. Play Pacers
Scottie Barnes (19.9 ppg) was held to single digits in points Monday, scoring seven against the Spurs. It was the third time this season he was held to single digits. The two previous times, he bounced back with big performances (averaging 24 points on 17 shots). That's what I'm expecting against Indiana, which ranks 26th in defensive efficiency. In his only previous game against the Pacers this season, Barnes put up 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Both teams are coming off embarrassing losses, but I'm going with the talent disparity and taking the Pacers. I expect plenty of easy points in the paint and plenty of transition buckets for the Pacers. With Tyrese Haliburton fully back on the floor and Pascal Siakam returning for the Pacers for the first time, the Pacers should pull away late in this one.
RJ Barrett missed practice Tuesday to attend to a personal matter and is listed as questionable against the Pacers. If he does return to the team in time, he’s not going to be on a minutes limit. With regards to this prop, Barrett has recorded at least 10 combined rebounds and assists in eight of 10 games since the Raptors traded away Pascal Siakam. He was limited to 24 minutes in blowout loss to the Spurs on Monday, yet he still had five rebounds and two assists. This is a great spot for him against a Pacers team that has played at the second-fastest pace in the league.
Here is the definition of an inflated line as Immanuel Quickley averages approximately 22 combined points and assists since joining the Raptors roughly six weeks ago. Quickley has struggled from an efficiency standpoint and is shooting sub 40% from the field. At first glance this would appear to a plus matchup, however the Pacers have done a good job limiting opposing Point Guards. The Raptors also have no shortage of capable scorers.
