Bounce back spot for a player who should lead the team in FG attempts. I always look for players who had a uncharacteristically poor opening night to respond. Davis is a prime candidate.
The Suns are missing two of their top scorers in Devin Booker (foot) and Bradley Beal (back), putting them in a difficult spot for this game. Even with Booker playing in their season opener, they only scored 108 points against the Warriors. Points won’t be any easier for them to come by in this game. The Lakers might not score a ton, either, with their new approach of trying to limit LeBron James to around 30 minutes or fewer a game. Expect this to be a low-scoring affair.
I don't play many NBA totals and won't play a ton on this one, but how does Phoenix even get to 100 without Bradley Beal and Devin Booker now that they have been officially ruled out? The Suns weren't very good offensively Tuesday even with Booker's huge game at Golden State.
Phoenix was very fortunate in Tuesday's win at Golden State in that the Warriors may have had what will be their worst shooting night all season. The Lakers fought hard vs. Denver in a game they really never had a chance in. Home court tonight and facing a Suns team that is likely missing Bradley Beal and Devin Booker and still ironing out roles has me laying the points.
Bounce back spot here for AD, who looked great in the first half vs. Denver in Tuesday's loss and terrible in the second half, finishing with just 17 points on 6-for-17 shooting. He needs to understand he is the Lakers' No. 1 offensive option right now as LeBron James’ minutes early in the year are on a tight watch.
Anthony Davis missed all six of his second-half field goal attempts in Tuesday's season-opening loss in Denver, finishing with 17 points on 6-of-17 shooting. That's created a little value on Davis in this much easier matchup. Davis will get great looks against Jusuf Nurkic and Drew Eubanks. And he likely will lead LA in shots again.
Durant likely will have some pretty incredible overall usage numbers tonight from a shots perspective with not just Bradley Beal expected out but now also Devin Booker. KD had been set at O/U 26.5 points, which I would hammer now if available, but it's up to 31.5 with those two stars doubtful. Simply am not sure who Durant even passes to with those two out. He rarely gets six assists as it is.
Sounds like Bradley Beal will be out again for the Suns, who honestly didn't play well at all offensively without Beal on Tuesday but managed to upset the Warriors. The Lakers were almost unbeatable at home late last season and into the playoffs until running into Denver.
