The New York Yankees are the talk throughout MLB as they have an MLB best fifteen home runs with their torpedo bats. Corbin Burnes has been sharp his last three starts against the Yankees, allowing two runs or fewer. He may have his moments today, but look for the Diamondbacks to provide run support for Burnes. Take the Dbacks on the right side money line move.
Aaron Judge has four home runs in three games as the Yankees won them all, and he's not even using the torpedo bat. They've averaged a 12 to 4.6 score through three games. They look like the Bronx Bombers on steroids (not really). But Arizona had scored the most runs in baseball last year and they've had an average score of 6.7 to 5.2 in the four-game series against the Cubs that they split. I'm expecting a lot of runs today with Will Warren getting the start because of Gerrit Cole, Luis Gil, and Clarke Schmidt being out with injuries. Corbin Burnes makes his first start for the Diamondbacks. Lots of runs expected, just the over.
The starting pitching matchup of Corbin Burnes vs. Will Warren dictates that Arizona be favored in Yankee Stadium, I suppose. But until I'm sure those cricket sticks or bowling pins or torpedo bats or whatever haven't revolutionized hitting, I will have to back the Yanks -- although maybe it's just awful Milwaukee pitching as even the Royals smacked around the Brew Crew on Monday.
Corbin Burnes threw a gem in his O's debut a year ago, and I expect a top outing here, too. He's always thrived vs. the AL East and allowed a .162/.205/.324 slashline vs NYY last season. The D-Backs are crushing the ball just like the Yankees. Burnes knows how to limit damage vs. the Yanks' big boppers. There will be nerves with young Will Warren on the bump for NY. He had a nice spring but a 10.32 ERA in 22 2/3 in 2024. Not sure Yankees are going to get as many cheapy HRs in early April night game.
