Kyle Schwarzer has not let his longest streak of the season without a home run effect his at bats. In yesterday’s come from behind win he went 3 for 3 at the plate, with an RBI and a run. Lifetime he does have three hits against Rockies starter Cal Quantrill with all three being home runs. Don’t be surprised if he ends his fifteen game streak without a home run today. Play his total bases over.
Ranger Suarez has won nine straight starts for the red-hot Phillies, giving up more than one run just once in his last eight. But because this start is at Coors Field, this line is shaded to Over 2.5. Does that make sense with this Rockies team considering they've hung more than two earned runs on just six pitchers in 21 starts at Coors (and neither time at altitude in Mexico City)? I don't think it does, especially when the pitcher in question has been one of the best in the league all season.
Ranger Suarez is having a dominant season and has surrendered just 10 ER through 10 starts. While I do believe Ranger will continue having a strong season, I believe this current pace he is on is unsustainable. Then you factor in he has the unenviable task of pitching at Coors Field, coupled with an excellent price, this looks like a solid spot to fade the Cy Young candidate.
This is completely a gut feeling and I can't back this up with any relevant statistical data but wow this feels like a trap in a getaway game for the Phils. Ranger Suarez has been amazing but he is not Sandy Koufax. Go look at what Cal Quantrill has been doing for the Rockies of late. At this price why not.
Ranger Suarez is maybe the best pitcher on the planet right now and I don't think this Rox lineup - especially a Sunday afternoon lineup - is going to test him all that much. Phillies are 10-0 in his starts, the last 9 of which they have won by at least 2 runs. They got their wake-up call Friday night, blowing a game in extra innings. But I have a hard time seeing them not win this series and even if Cal Quantrill puts up a fight for a while, I don't think the COL pen can hold up here
