This is an extremely tough spot for Alabama, but I still like the Tide to get the job done here. LSU has won 15 straight games at Tiger Stadium and Death Valley at night may be the toughest venue in college football. The X-factor for me here is Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe. I believe Milroe could present a similar type of problem as Marcel Reed did for LSU in their last game. I like the Tide by a field goal here.
LSU won six straight games before losing at Texas A&M two weeks ago in a game that was probably heavy on LSU’s mind with Alabama as their next opponent. But LSU really is playing their best ball of a season as they've covered three of the last four games. Alabama started out amazing with great quarterback play but they've lost two of their last four at Tennessee and at Vanderbilt. Now they're at LSU. Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has taken a step backwards in his great quarterback play with five interceptions and three touchdowns in his last four games. Garrett Nussmeier has seven touchdowns and seven interceptions in his last four games. He's got to be better than that Saturday. LSU to cover.
LSU is 13-0 in night games under Brian Kelly. They have 14 straight home wins and have won 5 of the last 6 home games against ranked teams. Need I say more? In what should be a College Football Playoff elimination game, I expect the Tigers to take care of business at home and keep their championship hopes alive, even if on life support. LSU 28, Alabama 24.
I like Alabama in this spot, with extra time to prepare and the season on the line. LSU's weaknesses were exposed a bit in the second half against Texas A&M. Jalen Milroe has the skill set to use his legs to pick up first downs and keep the Tigers' defense guessing. I have Alabama at -4 here and firmly believe the line should be at least a full -3. Death Valley at night is tough, but I like the Bama side in this one.
