Many books have Penn State at -4 right ahead of kickoff, which I jumped on as this line has come down significantly Saturday and over the last few days. You can trust Bo Nix on the road if you want to. You won't see me doing that. While I do not make a habit of picking against ranked SEC teams in nonconference games historically, anyone whose done so would be up nicely this season. The Nittany Lions have been tested, while the Tigers have mostly had walks in the park. With the intense atmosphere in Happy Valley, I like Penn State at -4.5 but like it much more at -4 if you can get it with good value.
Hello, my name is Tom Fornelli, and there are no circumstances in which I'm going to trust Auburn QB Bo Nix on the road. Nix is barely above average most of the time, and has significant home/road splits. Playing in his first road game of the season, in front of 100,000 people, I expect we see the return of Bo Picks.
Both teams have won and covered their first two games, but Penn State has won and covered its last six. I don't bet against streaks. It all started to turn midway through last season for Penn State and it’s carried over to this season. Auburn has averaged 61 ppg in two cupcake wins, but I like the Penn State defense to lead the win. Take Penn State to cover.
Auburn coach Bryan Harsin's impact so far on the offense has been significant. He's gotten QB Bo Nix to play with much better control and efficiency, without taking away his ability to make plays. This is a HUGE game for Nix to right some wrongs against a very good team. Conversely for Penn State, this is an excellent opportunity to raise some eyebrows nationally. The Nittany Lions are solid on both sides of the ball. Expect a tighter game than the point spread indicates.
