Understanding Public and Money
LIBERTY BOWL -- This is the worst of a number that briefly hit +3 yesterday but hopefully that won't matter. Kansas State is the better team and has the right composition to handle Navy. The Wildcats are physical and disciplined and they should avoid getting consistently gashed by the triple option. Kansas State also has one of the most balanced offenses in the country, which should give Navy trouble. This is basically the second bowl game for the Midshipmen following their rivalry clash with Army. The motivation edge goes to the Wildcats.
LIBERTY BOWL -- Behind masterful dual-threat QB Malcolm Perry, Navy has gone Over in seven of its last 10 outings and customarily does the same in bowls. Kansas State allowed nearly five yards per rushing attempt, tied for worst in the Big 12, so Navy should have its way offensively. The Wildcats counter with their own rush/pass menace, QB Skylar Thompson. Their KR, Joshua Youngblood, might provide six points on his own, as he has returned three for TDs in the last four games.
LIBERTY BOWL -- Navy arguably has the most explosive player in this matchup in QB Malcolm Perry. He is going to make a few big plays in this game. However, I like the defensive discipline of Kansas State, which will get a few stops and steal a few possessions in the process.
LIBERTY BOWL -- These teams are similar to one another in a lot of ways. Both run the ball a lot, which will limit overall possessions and the amount of points they can score. Still, I don't like the total in this game, and instead I'm inclined to take Kansas State. This feels like a coin flip contest, so getting the points is hard to pass up. Plus, Kansas State is 6-2 ATS as a dog this season.
LIBERTY BOWL -- Let's not out-think the room. Navy is a ball-control offense and Kansas State plays strong defense by Big 12 standards. Possessions in this game will be long, drawn out and methodical. As a result, don't expect this one to come close to the 52.5-point total. I'd be shocked if it touches 45.
