The forecast isn't too dire and the Bengals will be chucking the ball around going for a 9-8 season and attacking a back-up D that allows 29/G on the road. He is over 275 passing yards in his last two home games and is not afraid to take downfield shots and there's no reason to back off that now, especially with the Browns best pass rushers sitting. Better late than never on these finally hitting the market
Even with a backdrop that sees Cleveland resting its core starters for the playoffs, this is too many points to lay with a Bengals club that is still dealing with numerous key injuries and is in a relatively low motivation spot after its late season playoff push came up short.
The Browns will be going with Jeff Driskel at QB, and I think this is a matchup where the Browns offense can still have success against a terrible Bengals defense. When Driskel has played in recent years, it's been to add another element to the running game for his team, and the Bengals' rush defense has been in a worse place than usual since the D.J. Reader injury. There's no reason Driskel and whichever RBs play can't run for 150+ yards and keep this game close. On the other side, Jake Browning has regressed since the three-game win streak as Cincy has fallen out of the playoff hunt, and I'm not sure how motivated they'll be to win by margin after getting eliminated last week.
No reason to stop Browning from chucking it around here. Browns allow a ton more points on the road and will be sitting as many key players as possible Every home team has topped this against the Browns save for one. Pass Rush shouldn't be a factor and cover corners will be sitting. Bengals have the ability to score quickly, even with their back-up QB.
Bengals will keep chucking it around with Jake Browning and he's put up yards and points in his last two home starts. Browns will rest everyone locked into a playoff seed. Bengals will want to finish 9-8 and win a division game, after not doing so to this point. I could see Browning throwing for 300+ and 3 TDs while Browns veterans take what amounts to a bye week to prepare for the playoffs. Could see Bengals putting up a 30-burger with this QB.
Cleveland is cemented as the No. 5 seed in the AFC, which likely means staters will sit out most, if not all, of this rivalry game. Numerous Browns are banged up. Surely Joe Flacco, who soon turns 39, will take a pass. The Bengals' backup QB, Jake Browning, already has been playing -- and often quite well. Figure Cincy to own a significant edge at the position and to avoid the personnel that has elevated Cleveland's defense to the top of the league.
