It looks like Mike Glennon, Sterling Shepard and Kenny Golladay all will play, giving the Giants a chance to be competitive against the Chargers. LA is dealing with a COVID outbreak and tends to play close games anyway. The Giants have allowed 16 points per game over their last six, so if the defense can hold up again, we don't need a ton from this offense. Against teams in the top half of the league in pass defense (by DVOA), the Chargers are 0-4 straight-up with Justin Herbert throwing more INTs than TDs. Not expecting a Giants' win, but definitely taking the points.
I can't believe I'm going to back the Giants with either Mike Glennon or Jake Fromm at quarterback, but I now think they can stay within 10 because the Bolts have put both top wideouts, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, plus top cornerback Chris Harris on the COVID list. Thus, presumably all are out Sunday -- although there's a slight chance Allen could play. Clearly COVID is going around the team so there could be others.
Mike Glennon was awful as the fill-in starter against the Dolphins, but the offense as a whole wasn't much worse than what we've seen in the Giants' previous six games or so. The Giants defense, on the other hand, continues to excel despite being continuously put behind the 8 ball by the offense. I expect that defense to have a good day against an inconsistent Chargers offense, especially if Keenan Allen doesn't get activated from the COVID-19 list in time to play. A commitment to running the ball with Saquon Barkley no matter who's at QB should get the offense to 10 points, and I think there's a better than anticipated chance the Chargers don't top 20, so I'm taking the points here.
