Had been leaning Miami all week -- Dolphins probably win outright in my opinion -- but will hit the button now that the Falcons have ruled out their best pass rusher in Dante Fowler. He leads the team in sacks, forced fumbles and total pressures. The Fins, meanwhile, should get back a few key guys from injury who didn't play last week in London, led by Pro Bowl cornerbacks Byron Jones and Xavien Howard and receiver DeVante Parker.
Atlanta has shown some fight this season despite its awful record. The Falcons have weapons and an ability to generate chunk plays. For the Dolphins, QB Tua Tagovailoa looked competent in his return to the lineup, and should only get better in subsequent games. Defensively is where the Dolphins have the slight edge. All is not lost in Dolphin country, look for them to get back on the right track this week.
When you lose to the Jaguars, it's tough to argue against you being one of the worst teams in football. But I was mostly encouraged by the offense with Tua Tagovailoa back under center, even accounting for facing a bad defense that couldn't get any sacks against Miami's restructured O-line. He'll be up against another bad D this week, and I expect the Dolphins to have another good offensive day. Byron Jones seems like a good bet to play here after being questionable last week, and considering Atlanta's dearth of talent at receiver, he may be enough to get some stops. I honestly don't get this line at all; shouldn't this be pick 'em at worst in Miami?
