The Bears are down their top two running backs but enter relatively healthy on defense, while the Packers take a 4-0 ATS streak into their first of two rivalry games against a team they've largely dominated with Aaron Rodgers under center. There's a lot to like about Justin Fields and Chicago, but the credit being given to defensive improvement over the last two weeks doesn't take into account the opponents and situations. Green Bay has been rolling since I paraphrased Rodgers and told you to relax about their play last month, even with the special teams issues last week. The Bears won't be able to have as much success through the air as the Bengals did, and the Packers should pull off the cover in the second half with the spread under a touchdown.
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have owned the Bears. Rodgers is 21-5 against Chicago, and Green Bay 13 of the last 15 meetings and nine of the last 11 at Soldier Field. The dominance continues on Sunday.
My Bears shocked me by winning last Sunday in Las Vegas, but that might have been more about the Raiders in the wrong frame of mind with Jon Gruden. Since Matt LaFleur took over as Green Bay coach, the Pack are 4-0 SU & ATS in the NFL's oldest rivalry and won each by at least seven points. I expect that to continue. Aaron Rodgers is 10-3 SU & ATS in his career at Soldier Field.
Green Bay swept its division rivals last year by a combined 35 points, scoring 76, and QB Aaron Rodgers’ straight-up record in the series is 21-5, with four consecutive wins. Chicago is being understandably cautious with rookie QB Justin Fields, who completed just 12 passes in the win over Las Vegas as the offense churned out only 252 yards. That was sufficient against the sputtering Raiders; it won’t be against A-Rod. Count on the Packers to fix the mechanics of the field goal/PAT unit before gametime.
You know that feeling at work when you've had a string of frustrating weeks starting a new project but one day you walk in the office and it all slows down and starts to click? Such a relief, right? Well this is that day for the Packers. You're catching Green Bay in a get right spot, Chicago facing injuries at the QB position off a game they likely didn't think could pull off and still questions being asked around the Bears facility hoping the wheels don't fall off. Well the Packers are that nightmare scenario for Chicago. Expect things to click all day for Green Bay and them to exorcise a few demons of their own...to the Bears' demise.
