Coming off two straight losses the Cowboys will be very focused, plus they have done very well versus the bottom feeders of the NFL. There will be as many Cowboy fans in the stands as there will be Jet fans on Sunday. Jets starting quarterback Sam Darnold is set return after one month of inactivity and most likely 15-20 pounds of weight loss. The Jets defense has also been banged up and have a problem stopping the run.
QB Sam Darnold but might be the eventual Jets savior, but not this week. He returns after recovering from mono but will be encased in extra gear to protect his spleen from damage. This scenario reeks of Darnold rushing back prematurely in action to help kickstart the sleepy New York offense. These defenses rank sixth (Dallas) and 12th (NYJ) in the league. While Dallas sits atop the offensive rankings, the unit has backtracked the past two weeks, scoring only 34 points. Under is the play.
Dallas is angry, and the Cowboys are 8-4 ATS in their last 12 as road favorites. The Jets are a bottom-tier team; Dallas is very good against these lousy teams. Getting Sam Darnold back isn't going to make that big of a difference. The Jets' offensive line is horrible. Also, the Cowboys are getting healthier on the offensive line. Lay it.
The good news is that the Jets get back starting QB Sam Darnold, who had been out the previous three weeks with mononucleosis. The bad news is that they face a Dallas Cowboys defense that is both aggressive and active and will be looking to take its frustration out on the second-year QB. Dallas, which has lost two in a row, will be playing with an air of desperation in the Meadowlands on Sunday.
