Understanding Public and Money
The Thunder rolled the Nuggets on Sunday, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander likely wrapped up the MVP in the process. That said, Denver has been one of the best teams in the NBA this season in back-to-backs, going 11-1 thus far. The Nuggets will likely be short-handed with Aaron Gordon (calf) already ruled out, and Nikola Jokic (ankle/elbow) and Jamal Murray (knee) listed as questionable. I expect Murray and Jokic to both play, and for Denver to keep this game within 9 points.
Thunder forward Jalen Williams dished out eight assists in Sunday's win over the Nuggets, and I bet him to record at least six assists in Monday's rematch. The Nuggets give up the most assists in the NBA (29.1) -- a number that rises slightly on the road -- and could be without one of their best defenders in Aaron Gordon (calf). Williams has cleared this prop total in six of nine games since the All-Star Break. That includes four games in which Williams has tallied eight or nine dimes. Williams also had nine assists in a November game at Denver.
The Nuggets defense remains a problem as we have chronicled and while the Thunder might not cover 2 straight against them they should push for 130 yet again. Denver is allowing 120/G over the last 11 on the road and this is a team uniquely built to test them defensively. OKC is the second best offensive team in the league pretty much all season and over the last 15 games and they definitely gut up for the bigger games.
