This might catch some by surprise, but across the past month. it's the stealth-like Pistons who have one of the NBA"s best marks (11-4) as JB Bickerstaff has Detroit in surprise playoff contention. Succeeding without the injured Jaden Ivey in recent weeks has also impressed. Detroit won't flinch from this assignment, either, after winning 133-125 in the desert four weeks ago, surviving KD's 43-point onslaught that night. But Pistons balance (seven DD scorers led by 28 from Cade Cunningham) and bench production (42-16 edge) provided the ultimate edge. The Suns also aren't providing much spread value at the moment, standing 2-6-1 their last nine vs. the line. Play Pistons
Jalen Duren recorded 11 rebounds in his previous matchup with the Suns. That has been a problem for the Suns for much of the season because they have allowed the ninth-most rebounds per game in the league. Another important stat to note is that Duren is averaging 11.1 rebounds per game at home, compared to 8.3 rebounds per game on the road. This is a great spot for him to grab double-digit rebounds.
FanDuel. Rookie Ryan Dunn was inserted into the Suns starting lineup to help shore up the perimeter defense, but he’s also provided an offensive spark. He’s cleared this line in 7 of his last 9, and in 8/12 overall with 24+ minutes this season. Bradley Beal is doubtful, giving Dunn more of a path to his minutes ceiling. But either way, Dunn should be in store for a decent workload against Detroit, a very average team defensively.
The Pistons form has fallen off some, but they remain a solid team to back at home and they're playing better ball than the Suns. PHX is just 2-5 SU when spread is between +2 and -2, they have won just 3 of their last 14 on the road (vs the dregs of UTA, PHI and WSH); much tougher task here. PHX 2-7 ATS In last 9 overall and 1-4 last 5 on road, failing to cover all by multiple possessions. PHX 26th in net rating on road over last 15 games and really struggling to score. No Brad Beal or Jusuf Nurkic. DET has won 5 of its last 7 home games. Expect the to be the hungrier team here. Suns just 13-26-1 ATS.
