The injuries to Bradley Beal and Devin Booker put the Suns in a tough spot. Beal is unlikely to play, while Booker is listed as questionable. The Suns already entered the season thin on traditional point guards with the plan to pair Beal and Booker together in the backcourt. Behind them on the depth chart are Eric Gordon, Grayson Allen and Jordan Goodwin. That should mean the ball will often be in the hands of Kevin Durant. With good three-point shooters around him and the Warriors missing their best defender in Draymond Green, Durant could dish out plenty of dimes in this matchup.
I’m excited about the Suns, but the reality is they are going to have to figure out their roles and develop chemistry early in the season. The Warriors understand their roles and have that chemistry. Draymond Green will not play, but they still have Steph Curry and that is enough for me. I’ll take Golden State.
The Phoenix Suns made the necessary moves of trading DeAndre Ayton and Chris Paul after years of playoff failures. Adding Bradley Beal now makes them a more offensive team, which should pay dividends off the bat against the Warriors. Last season they won the first three matchups decisively by double digits. Take the Suns who have consistently been one of the best regular season teams in the NBA.
The Suns might be unstoppable offensively at times, but they also haven't all played together or for new coach Frank Vogel very much yet. Obviously that's not a concern for the Warriors other than the addition of Chris Paul against his former team -- think he holds a grudge against the Suns? You are gonna have to give me a great reason to fade GS at home and there isn't one Tuesday.
