The Raptors' Game 1 performance wasn’t horrible. They shot well, defended well, had eight blocks and shot 11 fewer free throws than the 76ers. But Raptors coach Nick Nurse has done a great this season defending Philadelphia, covering four of five meetings and winning two of three on the road. The Sixers did everything well in Game 1 and it will be difficult to duplicate that performance. Take the points in a good bounce-back spot.
Joel Embiid scored 19 points on 5-for-15 shooting from the field in Game 1, yet, the 76ers won by 20 points. If you had told me Embiid finished with that stat line, I would have been surprised that they even won the game, let alone by 20 points. They earned the blowout because of Tyrese Maxey, who scored 38 points on 14-for-21 shooting. While it will be unlikely that he replicates that, it will also be unlikely that Embiid will perform so poorly in the scoring department again. Add in Scottie Barnes (ankle) and Gary Trent Jr. (illness) being unlikely to play for the Raptors and another blowout could be coming.
I will play this with something Monday TBA but wanted to get this in before -300 as the Raptors are listing starters Scottie Barnes and Gary Trent and reserve Thad Young as doubtful with various ailments. Can't imagine Toronto can win on the road without those guys.
