Been waiting as long as possible for word on whether Anthony Davis, and to a much lesser extent, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, would play for the Lakers. While neither is likely close to 100 percent, they apparently will go. Thus, I think the Lakers can eke one out to force a Game 7 -- why do I think the referees, ahem, will help LeBron James & Co. win this game? There's also the fact Suns guard Chris Paul may have re-aggravated his shoulder injury in Game 5.
LeBron James is undefeated in first round series in his career. He cannot lose this Game Six at home. I get it, the Lakers' continuity issue has really reared its ugly head and Anthony Davis is questionable heading into his game. But I think the King figures out a way to push this series to seven games. Lay the points.
The Lakers return home after a non-effort in Game 5. I have to believe the Lakers will bounce back with or without Anthony Davis. Frank Vogel called out his team, and LeBron James is 4-1 after a 30-plus point loss in his career. Closeout games are tough, especially for young teams. Take the hungry host.
With Anthony Davis (groin) out, Los Angeles was dismantled by Phoenix, losing Game 5 by 30 points to go down 3-2 in the series. Does Davis return for Game 6 to try and keep the Lakers alive? If he does, there’s a chance that he’s limited, both in terms of playing time and his role in the offense. If he can’t play, then this game also could get out of hand early. Either way, I’ll take the points.
