Understanding Public and Money
From my daily article in the analysis tab... We're taking a shot on Drew Rasmussen to start the strikeout ladder here at six and work his way up. He hasn't worked past five innings in any of his starts so far and sports just a mere 8.7% swinging strike rate, but the Stuff+ metrics are over 110 and his swinging strike rate is likely due for some positive regression.
Rays starting pitcher Drew Rasmussen is off to a stellar start to the season. He has a .60 ERA, in which he has allowed just one run in fifteen innings of work. The problem for the Rays is the extended use of their bullpen when Rasmussen starts. This has led to consecutive starts of Tampa Bay blowing leads when Rasmussen exits. The Yankees showcased Thursday how potent they can be at George Steinbrenner Field. They’ll overcome any issues Carlos Rodon has on the mound. Take the Yankees.
Yandy Díaz’s power tends to come in waves, and he’s currently swinging a hot bat with two home runs in the past week. He also has a solid history against lefty Carlos Rodón, going 4-for-11 with a homer in his career. Yandy has mashed left-handed pitching this season, posting a .993 OPS against southpaws versus just .520 against righties. All three of his home runs this year have come at home, where he’ll be hitting again today. Given that right-handed hitters slugged significantly better against Rodón last season—and accounted for 28 of the 31 home runs he gave up—Díaz is in a good spot. We value this prop at +430, so the +480 price tag on FanDuel is solid.
