It's the first MLB start in the career of Marlins righty Connor Gillispie, who made three relief appearances last year for Cleveland in his MLB debut. While not always, I will generally play a pitcher Over 14.5 outs. The Pirates aren't very good at the plate, haven't seen him before, and Gillispie went 4.1 strong in his final spring start. He was stellar in all of the Grapefruit League. If it's at all possible, Marlins manager Clayton McCullough you would think would allow Gillispie to try and earn his first big-league win barring of course getting shelled (not too worried about that) or too many pitches (moderately worried about that). Our model has him at 5.1 innings. 5 is fine.

Fading a 6th strikeout here at -125. This line should be -145.
The Pirates have their issues, for sure, but the Marlins very well could be the NL's version of the '24 Chi Sox. It's looking incredibly bleak and starting Conner Gillispie in Game 2 is quite a choice. I saw plenty of him as an Orioles farmhand. Again, quite a choice. Mitch Keller is more than solid for the Pirates and had a nice spring. I will be fading these Marlins religiously early and expect Vegas will have +2.5 showing up in these Fish lines by late April. The Marlins are dealing with some injuries to an already threadbare roster.
