This has been a series that’s wearing out the under. Take this at plus money. Cole. Bibee. Bullpens.
Take Cole early. I know the environment will be electric for him. Let’s see Bibee match him. We don’t lose if it’s tied
The Yankees are only hitting .218 in the playoffs but that doesn't account for seven walks in Game 1 which is just as good as seven hits. They've gone 4-1-1 in the last six meetings. Gerrit Cole has gone over two of his last starts against Cleveland. We also have the build-up of waiting for Aaron Judge to hit a home run. I think he hits one today and this game gets over.
The Yankees are up over Cleveland 1-0 and game two has Gerrit Cole starting. The Yankees have won his last four starts with Cole only allowing five earned runs in those starts. The Yankees have won three in a row over Cleveland and seven of nine. Cole has also won three straight against Cleveland the last two staying under and his only start against them this year was 6-0 with him allowing only one hit. Yankees are only hitting .218 in the playoffs but they get by. Yankees win.
Disappearances by the Guardians offense are nothing new and recurred throughout the season and even in the ALDS vs. the Tigers before recovering. Tanner Bibee hasn't even been lasting five innings in recent starts, so Stephen Vogt is going to have to look hard at his bullpen in Game 2 (and for however long Cleveland lasts in this series). Meanwhile, Aaron Boone is going to be confident in starter Gerrit Cole, who has been sharp since the start of August, and a 2.40 ERA across his last thirteen starts. Boone would gladly settle for a repeat of Cole's seven innings in last Thursday's decider vs. the Royals, allowing just one run in 7 IP of a 3-1 Yankees clincher. Play Yankees on Run Line
Game 1 was largely stress-free for the Yankees. Anthony Rizzo's return from injury after missing the ALDS made a difference in the lineup. Giancarlo Stanton is hitting. Aaron Judge seemed to have a few good at-bats as he battles a slump (still no hits). Now it's Gerrit Cole on Tuesday, and he's obviously a playoff veteran -- off a terrific ALDS clinching Game 4 in Kansas City -- while 25-year-old counterpart Tanner Bibee's two career playoff outings for Cleveland were in the ALDS vs. Detroit. He didn't go five innings in either. This probably only goes up with all the NY/Cole money.
