Alex Cobb v Carlos Rodon with the wind blowing out (at least to left) and two lineups who are swinging better than the numbers suggest. Over
I have no life so I’m sitting around thinking of ways to play against Rodon, who seems very discombobulated. This is one of the best ways.
It’s a pricey spot in game one of the ALCS on the Yankees side. Cleveland is coming off a thrilling game five victory over the Detroit Tigers. Look for the Yankees to use that to their advantage, even if Carlos Rodon struggles similar to his game two performance against the Royals. Cleveland maximized their bullpen to win games four and five over the Tigers, and arms will be tested as Alex Cobb may only go four to five innings. Take the Yankees.
In the nick of time, Cleveland got the offense going to close out the Tigers in the ALDS. Can the Guardians continue in that vein or if the offense slips back into one of its funks like we saw earlier in the Detroit series, and at times during the season. Whatever, Alex Cobb has given Stephen Vogt some serviceable work on the mound, though in limited appearances (2.76 ERA in 16 1/3 IP). Still, 3-4 innings max from Cobb before Vogt goes to the bullpen seems the plan. Carlos Rodon was not sharp on the mound for the Yankees in Game 2 vs. the Royals, but his September work was superb, when fashioning a 2.20 ERA in five starts. Play Guardians-Yankees "Under"
Cleveland has the third-best batting average of the playoffs and it's only .234. The Yankees are only hitting .220 with three home runs in four games. Aaron Judge is going to come out eventually with the big day but it hasn't happened yet and now it might be a mental game with his lack of hitting in the playoffs. I think Cleveland can get the lead off of Carlos Rodon and hang on to it once they get into it with their bullpen. That's been their secret all season. It's a nice price to go with Cleveland.
Not a huge fan of Alex Cobb, who starts on the mound for Cleveland. The 37-year-old has made only four starts all year and wasn't particularly good in his short ALDS outing vs. Detroit. Juan Soto absolutely murders Cobb career, so consider a hitting prop on him. New York's Carlos Rodon has much better numbers at home this year. The Yanks also might get first baseman Anthony Rizzo back after he missed the ALDS due to fractured fingers.
