I don't fancy the Guardians much on the road, I like what the Tigers starter has given them this season and AJ Hinch is managing circles around everyone else. CLE rookie skipper in a very tough spot here - pitch around Ramirez and no one else is locked in. CLE can't play from behind. Tigers pen has been masterful. DET is a wagon at home. Riley Greene, Parker Meadows and Kerry Carpenter look up for this. Light-hitting Tigers got to Tanner Bibee pretty good even at the depths of their struggles - 4 ER in 4 IP in May, 4 ER in 7 IP in June, then only going 5 IP vs them a few weeks later and giving up 7 H in 6 IP
The loser in the last four games hasn’t scored any runs. It's been a shutout. Detroit has won two and Cleveland has won one in these playoffs. Cleveland has stayed under in their last eight games. The Tigers have stayed under in their previous five and eight of nine. Cleveland has won three straight behind Tanner Bibee; his last win was 7-0 in game one. I think it's a toss-up on who will win, but I have to go under again based on how they played the last two weeks.
There were a couple of times last night where wasn't sure if I'd ever be picking again (probably more profitable). I love storms, but Milton was frightening. Haven't gone back to my home to assess damage with power out widespread, but it does appear we avoided a Hurricane Ian-type disaster. One more of these, and I think I'm going back to Michigan. Way too stressful, not to mention costly. Speaking of Michigan, where I would have been this week if not for my dog, half the people I know are at tonight's game. I'd take this regardless, though. Honestly don't get why the Tigers are getting the RL at home. Honestly don't get why they keep winning, either, but we keep riding that gravy train.
This appears another bullpen game for the Tigers, but by now we should know that isn't a problem for AJ Hinch. Since the trade deadline, Hinch has worked the opener angle expertly, able to splice Tark Skubal into the rotation every fifth game. But the bottom line is that the Cleveland offense is in another of its funks that we saw from time-to-time this season. The Guardians have been blanked twice in a row and stare at elimination on Thursday vs. another Tigers opener. Tanner Bibee pitched 4 2/3 shutout innings for Cleveland in Game One, but if Stephen Vogt can't get the Guardians offense popping, this series ends today. Play Tigers on Money Line
The Tigers didn't score for the first 17 innings in the series and have only scored six runs total. The Guardians scored five runs in the first inning of the series and only have two since, now running with a 19-inning scoreless streak. There's exceptional pitching and poor defense in this series. Even an uptick in offense would keep us under, as the teams are only averaging 4.33 runs a game.
