The White Sox offense has been abysmal this season, ranking last in MLB with 2.14 runs per game and a 61 OPS+ as a team. But the Twins aren't exactly lighting up the scoreboard either, ranking bottom three in both offensive categories as well. And on the mound for Minnesota today: Chris Paddack, who has struggled majorly in his three starts this year, including surrendering nine earned runs in his last outing. Jonathan Cannon acquitted himself better than expected in his debut for the White Sox last week, and we should get the win on the run line with another solid performance from him.
Jonathan Cannon makes his second MLB start. In his debut last week, the 6-foot-6 23-year-old held a Top 10 Royals offense to one run on three hits. Chris Paddock has been beat up this season with a 8.98 xERA and .443 xwOBA. Granted, the damage has come against the Dodgers, Orioles and Brewers, who are all Top 4 teams against RHP, and this is... the White Sox. But we're going to keep these two basement-dwelling offenses out of it and target the starters in the F5.
Twins pitcher Chris Paddack is not very good and thus I can't justify Minnesota runline here, but I think at this price we blindly have to fade the just truly horrid White Sox a little on the road. They may well only win 15 or so road games all year with that putrid lineup.
If being charged with picking on the White Sox, we plead guilty. The Pale Hose are giving us no other choice these days as they have sagged to 3-18 and were just swept out in another series, this time by the Phils, who piled up a 25-7 run advantage on the weekend at Citizens Bank Park. As the case in his debut last week, rookie Jonathan Cannon probably needs to keep a clean sheet to give the Sox a chance, as they've been blanked seven times already and held to one or two runs another eight times. All good news for Twins starter Chris Paddack, who has had to face the menacing Brewers, Dodgers, and Orioles in succession. Play Twins on Run Line
