Now that this has risen to 8, we'll throw a half unit on the Under as I expect Corbin Burnes to largely dominate for the Brewers. Their lineup has been below average all season and especially the second half. Still like MIL to win but Snakes pitcher Brandon Pfaadt will miss some bats and the Brewers haven't seen him, so that may mean at least one turn through the rotation fairly easily. Both AL games this afternoon have been pretty low scoring.
A low total is offered today as the Arizona Diamondbacks travel to face the Milwaukee Brewers in game one of their Wild Card series. Milwaukee is the best team in the postseason from a runs allowed stand point. Additionally, Corbin Burnes has pitched only 66 pitches over the last eleven days. Expect a low scoring game from both side, and the under to cash.
The Diamondbacks didn’t get a chance to line up their starting rotation for the playoffs because it took them so long to secure a Wild Card spot. That means Brandon Pfaadt will have to take the hill for Game 1. He has been awful, posting a 5.72 ERA and allowing 2.1 HR/9. The Brewers will roll with Corbin Burnes, who had a 3.39 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP this season. Combine the lopsided starting pitching matchup with the Diamondbacks only having a .706 OPS on the road this season and I’m on the Brewers to win.
Brandon Pfaadt comes off his best career win which was five days after giving up six runs to the light-hitting Yankees. His win is also the last win the Diamondbacks have had before laying down four straight games and giving the Astros the division. Arizona scored just three runs combined during their four losses, not exactly the momentum desired from a bettor. The Brewers have won Corbin Burnes last three starts, the last two with Burnes not allowing a run. Brewers to win.
I prefer the Arizona lineup to Milwaukee's, but this is old hat for the Brewers and a new experience for the Snakes, who were dominated over the weekend at home by the Astros. With both Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly unavailable, Arizona has to use Brandon Pfaadt in Game 1 against Corbin Burnes and that's a massive mismatch even if Burnes wasn't quite Cy-worthy in 2023 -- he did have three scoreless outings among his final four. This is mostly a Pfade of Pfaadt.
