Understanding Public and Money
These spreads with a hook are tough to resist, especially when the underdog is streaking and the favorite is slumping. B.C. has covered five in a row while Nebraska has fallen straight-up in five of six. Slumping in tandem with his team is QB Dylan Raiola, who is at risk here. The Eagles' 16 interceptions is the 10th most in FBS. They have lost fewer pivotal players to the portal. The Huskers' defense has been hit hard, a welcome development for B.C QB Grayson James in his fourth start.
Was on hottest college football streak of my life ... until Texas A&M remembered it was Texas A&M. Can't spell Aggies without GAG. Guess I can't complain as I was on the right side of some pretty big comebacks there for a while. It's almost as if leading by double digits in a bowl is a bad thing this year. As we have seen, bowls are all about motivation. There are a bunch of Cabin Fevered people living in Lincoln who have been dying to plan a bowl trip for the first time since 2016. Because, I mean, Lincoln in the winter (yes I've been there). So yeah I think this matters to the Huskers.
Bill O'Brien had a very positive debut season with the Eagles, who closed fast with spread covers in their last five games. A late-season switch at QB to former FIU transfer Grayson James (64% completions) lent a bit more bite to the aerial game that also features big-target 6-5 wideout Reed Harris, while the Eagles were able to run with consistency all season. Nebraska showed well at times this season behind electric frosh QB Dylan Raiola, but the Huskers lost five of their last six, their only win in five away from Lincoln was at woeful Purdue, and their penchant for blowing close games is well-documented. Play BC (Yankee Pinstripe Bowl)
I think the wrong team might be favored in this matchup. I make the line closer to pick. Nebraska is 1-5 in games decided by eight points or less. I think we see another close contest here with BC having a chance to win outright.
