Notre Dame bounced back significantly from its heartbreaking loss to Ohio State earning a hard-fought win at Duke. While Louisville has started the season 5-0, it only has one truly impressive win -- and that was over Boston College. The Fighting Irish are battle tested at this point, and they've shown no issues on the road with a dominant win over NC State earlier this season. What Jeff Brohm has done in Year 1 back at his alma mater is great, but the Cardinals are still a season or two away from winning games like this from a roster composition standpoint. I like this better at -6, which you can probably find if you wait until kickoff.
This is a tough spot for the Irish. Two weeks ago, they lost to Ohio State in a heartbreaking manner. Then last week they escaped Duke with a victory. Next week they host USC in another ranked-versus-ranked matchup. How many consecutive weeks can they summon their best? Also, the Notre Dame offense has four total touchdowns over the past two games and doesn't seem capable of running away from a quality opponent right now. Meanwhile the Cardinals will be inspired by their first sold-out crowd since 2019. I'll take the points.
The Cardinals have had a couple close calls, but still have an undefeated record, an underrated home-field environment and a bye week to prepare for the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame escaped with a last-minute drive last week against Duke and is likely in for another close road battle against a quality opponent.
I'm upgrading Notre Dame's passing game as the Fighting Irish are expected to get Jaden Greathouse and Jayden Thomas back from injury after both missed last week's narrow win at Duke. Louisville's offense already has high-end potential, especially with Jeff Brohm as a plus-value game-planner and play-caller. Notre Dame's defense is obviously one of the best in the country, but this is the third-straight primetime game and could give up enough explosive plays to get us to the over.
This is a perfect spot for Notre Dame to put it all together. It took pure GRIT to pull out last week's win over Duke however the offense likely is hearing their faults all week at practice after failing to convert TD's all night. The Irish's 7th-highest scoring offense will get us the win but the ND defense will secure the cover. They've allowed less than 80 points total all season and that's after Ohio State and Duke. Look for the defense to clamp down, create turnovers and leave short fields for Sam Hartman...who I assure you has nothing less than touchdowns on his to-do list.
Louisville has started the season 5-0 (2-2-1 ATS) and will be an underdog for the first time this season. New coach Jeff Brohm can write the fairy tale story behind QB Jack Plummer, but I think Louisville is outclassed here despite being at home. They haven’t seen an accurate QB like Sam Hartman balanced with a run attack that averages 192 ypg, nor have they faced a defense as intense as Notre Dame’s 11th-ranked squad (271 ypg allowed). The Irish are 5-1 SU and ATS. Notre Dame to win by double-digits.
