It's tough to go against Colorado right now. However, with Oregon and USC on deck, and this seems like too many points. The Buffaloes have not won a game by 23 points this yet this season. Are they better on both sides of the ball than Colorado State? Yes, but with within this in-state rivalry, and the Rams having two weeks to prepare, Colorado State has nothing to lose but to make this their biggest game of the year, in week three.
The total has risen presumably because an exchange of barbs between the head coaches suggests that Colorado's Deion Sanders might attempt to run up the score. But can he? The Buffaloes' offense came back down to earth last week after an explosive opener, and the game generated just 50 points. Colorado C Van Wells appears out, leaving a true freshman to handle snaps in the shotgun. Trouble could ensue. State's offense was awful last year, with the Rams never even reaching 20 points. This season's opener produced 74 points, but 42 were tallied in a free-for-all fourth quarter with the outcome decided.
Some intrigue could be returning to this in-state rivalry, which used to be a swing game for the programs' chances of a winning season or a bowl bid. Colorado coach Deion Sanders has been the biggest story in college football thus far, amid the upset of TCU and a dominant showing against Nebraska. The Rams were routed by Washington State in their opener but scored 21 points in the fourth quarter behind Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, who will start Saturday. Colorado has a date with Oregon next week and, although a total flat spot isn't expected, look for the Rams to do enough to beat this number.
Colorado State coach Jay Norvell poked the bear that is the vengeful Colorado Buffs program in the Coach Prime era, a group that thrives off proving people wrong and silencing the critics. The Rams defense gave up 50 points to Washington State in Week 1 and considering the war of wards between Norvell and Sanders I'm going to assume Colorado will want to put on a show in the rivalry game. Colorado can definitely get to 50, and a motivated Rams offense should be able to get a couple scores as well to push us over the total.
Wholly cow! I'm shocked this total hasn't gone up after what we've seen in the first two games for Colorado and one game for Colorado State. The Buffs rank 12th in pass% plays while Colorado State is #1 in Jay Norvell's high flying attack. The Rams also rank #4 in time of possession inbetween plays. Only Tennesse, South Florida and TCU play faster. This game could take four hours to play. Colorado State ranks 4th in plays per game and Colorado ranks 6th. The game will be fun to watch! Sheduer Sanders for Heisman!
I think this could really be a showdown. Colorado is primed for a let down and they have Oregon on deck. This rivalry started in 1893, but they have not played each other since 2019 which marked 25 straight years the teams had played. Colorado State HC Jay Norvell is a solid football coach and will have his team ready especially with an extra week to prepare. Take the Rams+23.5
Colorado has won and covered the last five meetings with Colorado State. The last meeting was in 2019. In this spot, I know what CSU is about. It’s a team that fell down 36-3 at home last week to Washington State until finishing with a 50-24 score and the CSU scores didn’t happen until starting QB Clay Millen was replaced by backup Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi. The backup is expected to start this week. With Colorado, I don’t know what their true rating is. The ceiling is high. I know they have all kinds of speed and an electric passer. I’m on Colorado to run it up and show who runs the state emphatically.
