Dang it, I am weak. I absolutely recommend buying to +17 where DraftKings currently has it if you don't use that book. CBS Sports Network has the coverage. Wyoming has been good against the run so far, although Air Force obviously runs it differently/better than anyone. Tulsa is a pretty good team and Wyoming beat the Golden Hurricane (or is it Green Wave? again, I always confuse) in Laramie. It's the first true road game for AFA and that matters. You can't simulate noise no matter how much you try in practice. And I'm guessing in Wyoming the noise includes livestock, yeehaws and such. While Craig Bohl wasn't Wyoming's coach for near all of this trend, maybe he knows how to defend the triple option: The Cowboys are 10-2 ATS in the past 12 meetings.
As has often been the case under Craig Bohl, Wyoming appears to have made some rapid improvement from the relatively lifeless club that was hammered by Illinois in Week 0 heading to Friday's home game against Air Force. A run defense that was gashed against the Illini gave up just 62 yards in a double-OT win against Tulsa. Utah State transfer Andrew Peasley is still limited as a passer but he went 20-of-30 for 256 yards with two TDs and no INTs against the Golden Hurricane. Look for Wyoming's defense to do just enough to hold Air Force in check while its own time-consuming drives should help make this a competitive contest.
Air Force may be the best team in a Mountain West conference that is stacked at the top this season. Like all the service academies, the Falcons will run on nearly every play and they have been very successful so far this season. They piled up 435 yards against Colorado a week ago. Wyoming did not do well against the Illinois run-first offense, giving up over six yards per carry. The Cowboys will have to bow up to make this competitive.
Air Force easily toppled a double-digit spread in last week’s 41-10 win over Colorado. Meanwhile Wyoming already has a memorable loss in bettors' minds as it was walloped in Week 0 by Illinois. This could be a spot for a possible letdown for Air Force. Since 2017, Air Force is 0-5 in Mountain West openers. This includes the prior two years against Utah State and San Jose State with Haaziq Daniels as starting quarterback. Grab the underdog here in Wyoming.
