The Spartans have been one of the surprise stories of the young season. They sent a message on the first play from scrimmage when Kenneth Walker III ran 75 yards for a touchdown, and Michigan State has been rolling ever since. They are coming off another blowout win, this time at Miami. Nebraska is playing better the last couple of weeks, but MSU should still win by at least a touchdown.
Both these teams are old school in that they will want to run the ball all day and chew clock. You may not have noticed, but Nebraska has been tremendous defensively since about midway through the third quarter of Week 1. Sparty is only allowing about 17 points per game. I will be truly shocked if this total lands Over as the limit of points I see is a final of 27-24 (presumably for MSU).
Nebraska's offense has struggled against the better defenses it has faced this season, and that's what the Huskers are facing in this matchup against Michigan State. This year's Spartans squad is much more explosive and dynamic on offense than last year's team. So, they are getting much better play on both sides of the ball. This is another bad matchup for the Cornhuskers. I'm on Michigan State.
Nebraska comes in 3-1 against the spread and had a moral victory last week at Oklahoma, losing by only seven points. The Cornhuskers looked strong against Buffalo the previous week, but No. 20 Michigan State has a revival going and is at home. This is a bad spot for Nebraska. Spartans QB Payton Thorne has been a strong leader immediately after they brought in Anthony Russo to take the starting job. Thorne has thrown nine touchdown passes and no interceptions en route to three wins. Take Michigan State to cover.
