With a potential playoff bid at stake, it's difficult to imagine the Crimson Tide failing to take advantage of this opportunity. The Tigers are a worthy and dangerous opponent, but they are still limited in some capacities and freshman QB Bo Nix has struggled against top competition. Georgia managed a win at Auburn and I'd expect Alabama to do the same.
The Tigers have one of the best teams in the country, however they have struggled slightly with the growing pains of a true freshman quarterback, Bo Nix. Nix now has 11 games against some of the best teams in the country under his belt. Tigers have lost the last four in the series, but they are 4-2 ATS their last six home games against Alabama. Auburn is also 8-2 in its last 10 home games. The Alabama defense is very banged up and will play anywhere between five and eight freshman on defense. Mac Jones will make his first road start against a team 30 points better than its last two opponents.
Most aren't sure what Alabama's offense will look like without Tua, but while Mac Jones isn't Tua, he's in a better situation than Auburn's Bo Nix. Jones is still surrounded by NFL talent everywhere on offense, while Nix has struggled mightily against the top teams in the SEC. Lay the points with Bama, as this spread is too small.
Auburn has soldiered through a brutal schedule against five ranked teams (at the time) and has yet to hit an Over in any. Each game wound up south of 50 points. Though Tigers QB Bo Nix has performed admirably, let’s not forget he is a true freshman. Alabama sends out backup QB Mac Jones in lieu of the injured Tua Tagovailoa (hip). Auburn held explosive LSU to 23 points and Georgia to 21. Take the Under.
