Understanding Public and Money
Texas is laying a short price here because Oklahoma State has been putting up some great offensive numbers while winning and covering its first three games by an average score of 49-24. But this will be by far its toughest competition. The lone Texas loss was to LSU in a thriller. Beyond Texas being cheap this week, my play on the Longhorns rests with the great quarterback play of Sam Ehlinger, who has 11 touchdown passes with no interceptions. Hook 'em Horns, Texas covers.
This should be a great game between Texas and Oklahoma State. We know the Cowboys can push the tempo and put the ball in the end zone. It's full speed in one direction, however, as they struggle situationally in trying to control the clock and close out games. That's where Texas has an advantage in this matchup. The Longhorns do a great job of being able to play any type of game necessary to get the win. We see them being able to air it out with the best of them, but also see them line up in heavy formations and pound you into submission with their run game. Take Texas.
Oklahoma State has dominated this rivalry of late, with three consecutive victories. Last year' s home upset nearly knocked Texas out of the Big 12 title game. The reloading Cowboys appear to be better than most projections, but their meager strength of schedule will catch up to them in this conference opener. Coming off its home loss to LSU, Texas had a glorified walk through of sorts in its 48-13 win over Rice. The Longhorns will be prepared and will have too much for Oklahoma State to handle Saturday.
