I’ve touched on Marist not playing up to the standards they have shown throughout MAAC conference play. The grind of playing a Friday to Sunday game catches all teams. Marist has had issues scoring in three out of their last four games where they have scored sixty four points or less. Saint Peter’s also held them to fifty six points in their first meeting. Take the underdog here with Saint Peters.
This number seems real fishy (i.e. low) with Marist battling for the MAAC regular-season title and Saint Peter's near the bottom of the league at 5-12. It's also Senior Day at Marist. A win would give the Red Foxes 14 MAAC victories this season, which would tie the highest total in the school's 28 years in the league. They are also 9-0 in day games. Star Josh Pascarelli is 13-for-20 (.650) from three-point range in his last three games. He wasn't all that great last month when Marist played at Saint Peter's, but the Red Foxes still won by five.
These teams produced 107 points in their first meeting and that wasn't out of character at all. Their last 10 meetings have averaged 118 points and 7 of those games finished under this total. These are the two worst offensive teams in the MAAC and two of three best defensive teams. Marist is under in 9 of their last 13 games and 5-2 under with 1 day off. St. Peter's is 11-6 under in conference. No shot making, no pace. We want another ugly slog. Both teams will struggle to get to 60 points here and they rarely get over 64.
