CBI game from Daytona Beach. Interesting spot to have this during Spring Break. San Jose State hung 77 points in Round 1 on Southern Indiana, and obviously this is going over if that happens again. Radford scored 72 in an OT win over Tarleton State. The over is 4-0 in the Highlanders' past four. If both teams hit their season offensive average, this will finish way over.
I realize the MWC didn’t fare that well in the NCAA Tournament, but this San Jose State club put it all together at the end of the season and was beating some of the best teams in the conference such as Utah State, UNLV, Boise State and Nevada. The Spartans are playing at a high level right now, winning and covering five of its last six contests. I’m on San Jose State to cover on the neutral court in Daytona Beach as I expect a double-digit victory.
In February, I said on Early Edge in 5 (weekdays at 4 p.m. ET on SportsLine's YouTube channel) that I was done picking San Jose State games this season. I guess on a random Monday in late-ish March that I couldn't help myself. It's the second round of the CBI, a tournament seemingly fit for the Spartans to capture after a surprising regular season under coach Tim Miles. In 11 of their last 14 wins, San Jose State has reached the 70 point mark, a figure I expect them to achieve today against Radford. In seven of the Highlanders' last eight contests, this total has been surpassed. Plus, Radford has given up 65 or more points in 8 of their last 10 games. Tarleton State took the Highlanders to overtime yesterday, so it would be beneficial for SJSU to push the pace against potentially tired legs.
The cross-country trip to Florida for the CBI was no bother to San Jose State, which won its opener Saturday to move to 10-6-1 ATS away from home. Redford won, too, but on Sunday in overtime as two starters logged all 45 minutes and another registered 38. The Highlanders could be dragging against a fresh foe. One of the Spartans' recent covers was a one-point setback to Nevada, an NCAA Tournament invitee.
